I have the chance to pick up a couple cords of white pine for free. The trees have been cut down a couple of weeks. I don't plan on burning it this year but next year for sure. I was wondering how long pine takes to season. Just curious.

split it and stack it, and you should be fine for next winter. If the location is sunny with a breeze/wind, 6 months could do it.

I burn about 90 % pine. I usually cut it green and frozen in the winter. It splits with two or three god cracks of the maul when frozen. After a year in our dry climate its ready to go. i think my wood is actually to dry and rips pretty good in a hot stove. If the stuff you have is frozen, it won't be ready for this year.
