We recently bought a house that has an Enviro Fire EF3bi pellet stove. The stove was working really well and now all of a sudden it will not light. The 15 minute start up timer is running correctly and its feeding pellets like it should, so I'm assuming its the ignitor. We completely cleaned it out and still nothing. We did happen to find a receipt where the old homeowners replaced the ignitor in 2002! We have no idea what year the stove was installed but it seems odd to have already had the ignitor replaced once. Is there anything else I can try to get this thing working or am I really going to have to replace the ignitor already?

I have the baby brother to the EF-3. I have a older EF-2. Mine has no igniter. I lite the stove with a propane torch with a pushbutton starter. I throw a handful of pellets into a clean burn pot liner. Turn the feed rate to the 1 O'clock position. I shut off the convection blower and put the auto/man switch into manual. This starts the combustion blower. When running I hit the pellets with the torch flame for a few minutes. Once burning well I close the door tight and wait for the green light to come on. When it does I switch the switch to auto so the safety features are running and turn on the convection blower. I adjust the damper to the flame and then I'm all set.
I don't find having to light the stove to be too much of a problem for me. But your use may differ.

Remember ignitors were an option you can light it with a Firestarter Gell or other type for fire started approved untill you get an ignitor.
Or you can use a Plumbers torch to light it.
Ignitors last from 1 -10 years just depends on the use and how many lights it get.
2002 to 2008 (5 years) is good for most stoves. An ignitor is like an Light bulb.
Is the ignitor getting hot at ALL?
The first thing to check is if you have your burn pot in backwards
and or the burn pot is warped and dropped down into the burn pot holder so the Ignitor hole is aligned up with the ignitor.
the older burn pot liners were a Ligher gage Stainess and after used warped inward and it would sag down into the holder.
Just Push the sides out or step on it to spread it back out.

Checked the burn pot liner and all that and it appears to be fine. The ignitor has not gotten warm at all since last Sunday, when the stove was running like a champ. I was not aware that the ignitor was more of an optional feature. I will try to light it with the torch and check back later. Thanks for much for your help!
Well, have been lighting it with a torch and that is working really well for me. Thanks for the great advice! Other than that, tried to light the ignitor several times and it still is not warming up at all. Will put off replacing ignitor now that I know the stove can be lit in other ways. Thanks again!
