Installing Stove In Front of Flat Panel TV

Hi,

I am considering buying a pellet stove as supplemental heat for our home. We are remodeling our family room and our idea is to place the stove along the wall directly across from a couch and under a flat panel tv. Any advice or experience with this is appreciated.

The questions I have are:

1. Would the stove (Quadra Fire Castile) be too noisy to have between us and the tv?

2. Would the heat be too unbearable facing a couch that about ten feet away?

Not sure on the flat panel question......but I have the Castille.....on low I dont think it would suffocate you and the noise level on low....even medium for that matter isnt to bad.

My Enviro Meridian insert is directly under my plasma tv. I don't find it noisy or unbearably hot, and my couch is about ten feet away.

Before you put up the tv, place a thermometer on the wall where you will placing the tv. As long as it's under 85 degrees, you won't have a problem,

Flat panel tvs don't do well with excessive heat, but since pellet stoves blow the heat out into the room and not up, you shouldn't have a problem.
 
Huh, I have an Enviro (Vistaflame) insert set about five feet to the right of our TV, and I definitely find it loud. Not prohibitively so, but you have to turn the TV up a bit to hear over the blower.
 
along with mitakuuluu, our stove (Englander) is about 7 feet to the left of the TV and couch. The TV is about 12 feet straight across from the couch. We find the noise of the room blower fan to be a little loud, need to turn up the TV slightly most of the time. Those few times the stove gets shut down seem really quiet.

Overall, though, I'm happy with the warmth in the room compared to the noise level. The noise isn't prohibitive, but it is noticeable. I would think that any stove you put in is going to have some sort of noticeable effect on the overall noise level in the room.

Maybe I'm just used to the stove noise, but I really don't find it all that loud.
 
I think you definately get used to the "background" noise... But like I said, when the stove is off, you get the feeling that something is missing...
 
Just curious since my TV & stove are in different rooms but don't you get a LOT of dust from the stove on the TV? It seems like every TV we own is a giant dust magnet. I had my computer in the room where we installed the stove but I moved it for fear that the dust would harm it. Anyone taken a light and looked into the back of their TV since running it near the stove?
