73.2 gallons used since 12-12-07

Just had a fill up... 188 gallons since October 18th. And I'm only burning nights and weekends. Its my first year in the house so I don't have any comparison. I also use oil to heat hot water. Still pretty happy with the results. I love wood heat!

I installed my insert a month and a half ago, but only started burning 24/7 three weeks ago. We used 107 gallons in Dec., down to 64 used in Jan., expecting even less this month! What a feeling!

Gallons of what?? Is this oil?

We are now down to about 120 gallons per season of oil for our old and tired boiler.

No heat like wood heat.!!

250 litres to 300 is my annual fill up in the fall? Some homes sounding old and missing insulation. WOW :bug:

I'm starting to think about the fill up. We bought in June (fill up) and now have about 1/4 tank left. Don't want to buy, but warm water too is nice. Wish I could put in another tank and allow me to decide when I wanted to buy oil (the town has said that I only "need" one tank, house is too small to have 2).

The town gets to decide that you need only one tank, aint that Orwellian . I might just be the last of the renegades or the last somewhat free man in this country but thats pure bullshit. Don' ask don' tell works very well in my world. Put it in the basement and it will be your little secret. What those bozos don't know won't hurt you now will it. Out of sight is out of mind and really what the hell business is it of theirs anyways? I suppose they "require" a permit and inspection with all the requisite monetary thievery to go along with it. Local governments, the real Big Brother and out to save you from yourself via your wallet. Boy am I glad I live in the country so far back off the road that no one can see what I do back there.

Just get creative-keep a tank or a few drums in an outside shed/garage and buy a small diesel tranfer pump. As long as it is not hooked to the system...........

so replace it with a big big tank like 3 or 4 times the size you have now. It is only 1 tank he-he.

150 gallons of pro-pain since Christmas on a very poorly build and insulated Holly Park 1040ft double wide with basement.
Running the Drolet 12-18 hours per day.

I think it is time for me to get a bigger stove.

I have used 60 gallons of propane since our October fill. New furnace, great insulation thermo gain through windows all helps! We are lucky to have a warm draft free home built by the previous owner not a cost cutting contractor. Not to mention a great wood burner!

The 500 gallon Lawn sausage (propane tank) has to be 25' away from any structure so I could not use one out at my shop (did not want it in the woods). The solution use 2 125 gallon tanks piggy backed up against my shop. Now I will have two smaller explosions instead of one large one if anything goes wrong!

We just got our Propane bill Yesterday. We started burning the stove on 12/27 and the latest bill started on 12/21. For those 6 days and to keep our standby tank warm (I kept the boiler tank warm but turned the temp down...) I used just 15 gal! that's just about a 75% decrease in fuel usage. For the previous bill, we used over 55 gal. for the same amount of time. We also had some colder weather for January with a few weeks hovering around zero that we didn't have on the previous bill.

I am so happy with this new stove!

Used 200 gal since 9/06. Only used10 gal this year. I used it most april and early may.

Have used less than 10 gal this heating season now that I burn 24/7 with the new woodstove. Topped off the 250 gal tank in Nov as prices just kept going up. That 100 gal cost $330. However, at this rate, I have about 3-4 years worth of oil stored up.

Have used only 150 gals since the summer, 1st year with the stove. Am seeing a 66% decrease in the usage of oil for the winter. Oil used to provide DHW.

This is the third winter in my house. the first winter I spent $3,300 to heat it with oil..The next fall I had a woodstove installed. I spent $400. This year I have spent around $550.
