I recently had to replace the auger motor on my Big E. One of the gears inside the box had a flat spot on it so if the gears stopped spinning when the flat section was on the pinion, the auger would not turn and the stove would go out. Since replacing it, the stove seems to be feedint too many pellets. Especially at start up, the pot will over flow with pellets. seems when the stove is set at 3 or 4 the fire cant burn fast enough, pellets end up falling out side the burn pot. Any suggestions?

Did you get the correct RPM auger motor?

The motor was (and is) 1 RPM. The only physical difference that i could tell is the shaft that connects to the auger is a little bit shorter.

Then it is an air problem
Has the Air is adjusted?
Go through the stove and make sure all doors are sealed
Venting is clean
Ash trap are clear
Heat exchanges tubes are clear
the air Slots on the sides of the stove at or just above the heat exchange tube are clear.
Burn pot is set back all the way and level

Basicly follow the steps in the trouble shooting in the Yellow sticky post at the top of the pellet room

When was your stove cleaned (pipes, blowers, ports, and burnpot. ? and how many tons have you burned in the stove ?

Your stove maybe dirty, you will have to check the two ports in the bottom of the ash drawer, make sure they are not full ,Packed, with ash. Also make sure your damper, left side, is open far enough.
