Pellet Vent pipe question

Well tommorow's the day for the install of my Harman P61A-2. One final question. The pellet vent pipe is going to go straight out the wall and then up 3 feet. Would it be better to go up 3 feet in the house and then out the wall or out and then up 3 feet? Thanks, Chris.
 
Not really sure which would be better... But where do you want the hole in the wall, or where the hole would be better located would be something to consider as well...
 
Vent pipe radiates heat. If you keep the vertical rise inside, it seems to me you would get a slighter higher heat output because the pipe is giving off heat. If you put it outside that little extra heat will be lost. Just my 2 cents
 
You might also consider the look of the installation. My wife DID NOT want a woodstove look. She wanted a gas stove look so I ran the pipe straight out the back.
 
what pipe are you using? If it is the selkirk 6 5/8 I would run your vertical inside. If it is just 3"pellet vent then I would install it outside but I it was me I would just run the pipe out with no vertical unless I had to meet code.
 
I preferred mine to go straight out and then T'd closer to the ground for easement of cleaning the pipe for me when needed. Also....with the ICC pipe I have.....right directly outside my wall is a lil warm but as it starts up theres no heat......so pretty happy with the outcome.
 
It will be 3" pellet pipe. I'll see what the boss (wife) prefers and run it by the installer. He called me @ 4pm to say as they were loading the truck for the morning they had a small problem. It seems they dropped the hearth pad and it fractured several tiles on it. So, they won't be out to install till next tuesday :-S . Bummer! Once again, thanks for all the replies!
