Anyone hear anything about the difficulty Jotul is having completing orders for the 550 Rockland insert? I ordered mine in November and still don't have it. The stove was suppossed to be installed in the beginning of January. I was told by the store owner that it was delayed until end of January or beginning of February.

Called the store yesterday and now it is delayed until the end of February. Store owner said it isn't their fault but an issue on the Jotul end. They really have no idea when they are getting the next batch from Jotul. They are hoping the end of Feb. I called a few more stove stores in the area and no one has it in stock.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Getting frustrated

Thanks for any info.

I'm dealing with a similiar situation. My sig says that I have the Winterport insert, but that's just because I'm so excited about getting it. I ordered a C350 Winterport in early Jan. The store said that Jotul were having some delays, and that my insert should arrive at the end of Jan. I called on the 31st, and the store said they had contacted Jotul and the shipment was still on schedule, so it should be any day now. I'm going to call again this week to check on it. I'll post whatever I hear from them. Until then, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.

This falls under the heading of "everything takes longer and costs more than anyone thought!". Over the years I don't think I have ever seen a new stove released from the maker at the scheduled time! The original dates are usually set up with optimistic thinking....like if everything goes right!

Then the real world enters the picture. A stove can be delayed for weeks due to a simple misprint in the testing labels. All kinds of little things, including a shortage of one bolt or nut, can slow down the process.

Ideally, a stove company should figure in an extra couple months for all this stuff and inform the dealers as to the actual reality.....or just simply say "there is no expected date - we will inform you when they are in the warehouse". The good news is that once the kinks are worked out , there are rarely shortages of any stoves (in the future). Some folks will wait, other might cancel.

I am also a kid waiting for christmas right now! It is killing me. It would help if I wasn't paying 3.30 a gallon for oil. It would also help if the store where I purchased the stove from could give me some actual info. instead of just saying they don't know what is going on. I guess that is why I come to places like here for answers.

I just hope the stove is worth the wait!!

I hear ya! I'm paying more than I'm happy with for natural gas. When I bought this place in 2001, nat gas was *cheap*. Now I'm getting hit with monthly bills between 150 and 300, depending on the month. I'm guessing oil is even worse.

My insert arrived at the fireplace store, but they're still waiting for the surround to come in. They claim it should arrive within the next 2 weeks. This place is about 25 miles away, I have to borrow a pickup to get it, and my installer is tied up until the 15th, so I'm going to wait for the surround so I only have to make one trip. I hope it will be sooner than 2 weeks, but given how things have been lately, it'll probably be 3 :)

Given Jotul's reputation, and the price of oil/gas, I'm sure it'll be worth it. I'm sure that I'll be scratching my head and cursing under my breath for a few weeks until I figure out the best burning strategy, but like you said, that's why we come here.

Hang in there!

soxfan dont know if this will make you happy or not bu the 550 in mate black have started to ship dont know how far down the list your dealer is but there is hope for ya.

My C350 Winterport arrived today. Next step is installation, probably some time next week.

Maybe this is the end of the delays with Jotul?

+about 1 million!!! I had a problem with a Oslo and took it up with a Jotul rep. He took care of it without any issues and was more than willing to even come over and take care of it on his own.
Great company person. If I could only find out where to send the good emails, I would.

Do you have a number for them? It is not on their web site or in any of their literature and I was told by my dealer that they do not take calls from people other than dealers.
