I recently installed a englander 25-paf pellet furnace. I have a question as to weather i can turn up the blower fan higher than the temp setting. the manual says they should match, but i dont seem to get enough air flow from my vents through out the house. i have it ducted into my plenum of my house furnace (which is turn off). the heat output seems good but i have very weak air from the vents in all the rooms. the first nite using it it went through almost 2 bags of pennington pellets on a setting of 5 and 5. is this correct?
also the fire went out after about 15 hours running, there was a large clump of pellets, looked like a dry piece of sea sponge. i cleaned all the holes in the wear plate and the side holes in the burn pot hoping this would help.So today i found a air leak at the glass seal, i replaced the gasket and fired it up, the flame looked hotter so i have it set on 4 now with the fan on 5, think this will be ok? any advise would be helpful. thanks.

My son has a pellet stove and I have had some experience operating it but that does not make me an expert. Anyway, what I hear is that you are not getting the volume of heated air from the heat vents that you expected? Then you ask about turning up the air supply to the furnace. Just want to make sure you understand that one is seperate from the other.

For the hot air problem; check your filter, check the cold air return and check the blower and make sure everything is clean and operating optimally.

For the air supply to the furnace; we kept the fan +/- 1 of the pellet feed.

The clump of pellets sounds like the furnace was hot enough to keep feeding pellets for a bit after the fire stopped. The amount of pellets sounds similar to the stove my son had too, at 1 or 2 the stove used about one bag in 19 to 24 hours.

Again I am not an expert so hopefully someone else will chime in.

there are 2 settings on the side, one is a heat range setting, the other is a room blower speed setting. just wondering why the room blower speed could not be set higher to get more air volume from the room vents.

I am pretty sure that is the blower that feeds air to the fire. If it is side by side with the pellet feed then I am sure that is what that is. That is why it needs to be close to the feed rate of the pellets. Most furnaces I have dealt with don't have a varialble speed for the blower. If you are not getting enough air to your rooms then you need to check all the things that affect the air flow. If it is attached to your primary furnace there may be some increased resistance there. Again, check all the filters.

You also said your primary furnace is turned off. Does the pellet furnace have its own blower other than the one to the fire box? Even if it does you might want to ust the blower on your primary furnace too. That will increase your air flow. Rob
