25-PDV questions/concerns

With start-up complaints onn a new unit I would suggest calling and getting info from Englander, I think the Stove guys could put on track faster.

pictures would likely help, have you called my shop? i have a staff of techs who would be able to discuss this and help you figure it out

Definitely call the Englander Stove support line for assistance. I had a similar issue when I first purcahsed mine and they had it running great after the call.

I wonder if there was a style change on the burn pot because the large air hole on the side of the burn pot is underneath the removable grate on mine. It almost looks like the burn pot was assembled and welded incorrectly. Just my $.02

I have a one week old Englander 25 and using Barefoot pellets as you are. And I live in upstate NY. (Nice weather huh?) I'm seeing the same thing you are. They seem to burn real hot, but they do clump up as seen in your pictures. I'm thinking that we need to try another brand of pellets, even though I can live with this due to the heat they put out. Let me know if you try another brand and how they burn, and I'll do the same…I've tried, as Mike from Englander suggested, to up the air intake feed to 7, but seem to still have the clumping. Only way to really figure it out is trying other brands, before I can blame the stove itself.

I have the same stove and i agree with the post above,i think the burn pot was welded wrong.the 2 air holes on top
in the pictures are underneath my burn plate.i dont think it is getting the air flow needed.

I agree. I dont have that stove. I have a Quad Castille.....and when my air flow gets blocked with ash it has similar flame. I dont like to let it go more than a day without dumping the burn pot...runs better.

look under the wear plate and you will see two more holes like that at the bottom , this burn pot is supposed to have those holes at the top. unless the unit is built prior to 2002

I have to say that mine is doing the same thing with th pellets building up in the burn pot. Seem like I have to scoop them out every 5-6 hours to get a good burn.

I have the PDVC model so it's not identical, but similar in design. When I burn different brands of pellets I need to adjust my low burn air settings, higher for hardwood pellets and lower for softwood pellets. The burnpot will becoming fairly choked with ash after about 24 hours, which seems to be pretty normal for these stoves from what I've read on this forum. So after 24 hours I scoop out the burn pot area and it's good for another 24 hours of burning. It would be nice if the ashes were blown out of the burn pot like on my Whitfield.

I have been burning 3 brands of hardwood pellets and they all do the same thing. What exactly are the 3 buttons for and how do they change the way the stove burns, I am most confused about the low bur air button, I know what the other 2 do but some insight for all 3 would be nice.

What is the "low burn air" anyway? what does that button control. I use a thermostat and when it reaches desired temp, the flame goes down like it should but if I set the LBA on 3 the flame is ok, if I set it on 2 it's smaller, 4 is larger and so on. This is when the thermostat is in the off position. Is the outside air vent system only used in case of a power outage so the smoke can be blown out the stack or is it to help with the burning? I was told by ESW that the bottom 3 buttons should be set on 4-9-1. any ideas??

The low burn air button is meant to increase or decrease the amount of air into the burn pot. I had mine on 4 with the first batch of pellets I had purchased, and it ran well. When I changed brand they wouldn't burn completley, and after searching on this forum I found a post regarding the problem, and the fix was to increase the low air burn setting. It has worked great since that change.

Correction! its not the LBA it's the LFF button. That's the one that has me confused. My LBA is set on 9, but I still get a pot full of ash and partially burned pellets just like the pictures that someone posted above.

AhhhhhThe Low Fuel Feed button. I had to adjust mine to feed one 40 lb. bag of pellets in 24 hrs on low when I first got it. My current setting is 3, but with different size pellets this setting can be changed to compensate.

By the way, how long have you had the stove? If it's brand new you should call Englander for assistance. Their support folks are great, and will get you ironed out in no time.

the stove is a 2006 and I bought it in 2007
what does low fuel feed mean?

spsjs - The low fuel feed from what I can see is there to calibrate the amount of fuel fed into the burn pot. Decreasing this number means less fuel being fed into the burn pot area.

moto1919 - They are open on Saturday mornings I believe from 9 to 12.

The three bottom buttons only control settings for the stove on low, 1 & 2. They have no effect on higher settings. Here's a link that covers it.

if the blower is making noise as such and your work hours do not allow you to call in during our office hours, click here and fill out an online warranty request form http://www.englanderstoves.com/warranty/warranty-claim.html my staff will go over it and get you taken care of quickly. make sure you put a note oin the comment box about the incomplete burn and if you havce a daytime phone number we can reach you at to discuss it put it in there as well.

by the way , we are no longer open on saturday mornings. just 8-5 mon-fri
