On the advice of many, I decided that once a week I should shut down completely, cool off, and do a good cleaning. Today I did this. While cleaning the burnpot, I scooped out all material from it, and found that there were some hard deposits on it, on the surface that curves out of sight. But I could feel them, and although it took a screw driver, I got them all off. They must have been clogging some of the air holes. Now the stove is running very, very well - beautiful flame, and the warmest stream of air out the front that I have felt in a while (this is on Stove 7, feed rate max). I know I am getting efficient burning and high capacity.

The dealer told me that deposits could feel like steel but they had to be removed - I saw that, and will make sure I clean this well every week.

Most problems people have on this site are caused by not cleaning thoroughly. Remember this when doing a major cleaning and life is good.

I clean mine every week. that makes 2 since i've owned my xxv. I didn't notice the hard deposit the first week. but I did last week. The pointy end of the tool they give you wrked well to remove this and all the other creosote build ups

not sure if your burnpot is removable or not-mine is and it is stainless steel. At first,I had a heck of a time getting the hard deposits off but now I throw it into a pot of water and let it sit for a bit-water softens up the deposits nicely and they come right off with mininal scraping(I use a putty knife).

Interesting - as far as I know, the Harman XXV burnpot is not removeable.

An update - today I cleaned thoroughly (after 9 days), and the deposits I found before, in the "out of sight" area, had returned, but since they were only 9 days in the making they were not too hard to remove. Once again, I started back up with high performance !!! Nice heat coming out, lots of capacity.

Clinkers (those deposits you're seeing)Happen....
some pellets create more than others...
I used to do a quick scrape everyday after work, no need to shut it down if you use the right tool,
should only take about 30 seconds with the right tool.
