just talked to a dealer which sells the avalon olympic stove. labor and the cost of the stove with double wall chimmey was going to be around 3826.00 is that far off of these stoves . i'm only going through a single story ceiling, to the outside.

That's about right newwoodburner...kind of shocking isn't it?
After having burned wood for 30 years with 3 different stoves that didn't even total to 1k I was floored. Thing is the newer stoves burn less wood and don't put out the smoke the old stoves did. imo they're worth it.
Just say'en...maybe you really don't need a liner. Did they do an inspection of your chimney yet?

I am looking at one for 2,000 so a good price you are getting. Mine is with black door, pedestal, and ash pan. Other dealers are at least 350 more, some 500! :bug:
It defintely pays to call around but since you are getting an install might want to see how these install (quality). Double wall or single? Some places still install single, shame on them.....I am just waiting for one more price on the stove and I am going to call the other dealer if his price is not good enough. Just be careful about telling another dealer the place you are getting a better price, he does not need to know this. (Might create bad blood) If there is such a difference in price then shame on them for charging a lot higher and cashing in. I am just talking about the stove alone, nothing about the install. You have to think of number #1, the stores are......

I think I paid $2,300 for mine, which is freestanding, black cast legs and black door with no etched glass and no ash pan
I bought the Olympic insert back in Oct last year and paid $3800 w/ liner and install. I did a lot of shopping around, went to most of the stove stores on Long Island. Make sure you get the blower if possible, it make all the difference in the world.
yes it does, however, this is my second full season with it, and the blower is on 24/7 and it jsut started to make some noise..anyone else have these problems? I am planning on taking it off the stove and cleaning out out and checking to see if I can lube it up alittle

The guy that sold us our blower told me to clean it with compressed air twice a year to prolong its life. You might give that a shot.
So far we only turn the blower on when the temp is in the single digits...it sure does put out a lot of heat when it's on.
you said 3800 for everything, then if i read it right you said 2000 for stove and 800 for chimney, that 2800. 28 sounds good but 38? good metalbestos class chimney should run arounf 100 per ft installed. I just put in 17 ft at my house and had to use a insulated tee and I have 1200 in material. Its really wasy to install your self, and you usually get a better job, I know I did.newwoodburner said:

Yah it does seem high, you only need 15 feet of pipe from stove bottom to chimney cap, so depending on how high your ceiling is, the rest will be class A chimney pipe. I think the Olympic measures 31 inches tall, subtract that from the height to the ceiling, see what you have. Then make sure you have at least that 15 feet of pipe total, I would do more than that if you have the cash, it will let you burn that beauty at a lower setting and still have good draft. I have 11 feet on Chimney pipe outside which means adding 2 braces (50 bucks each), but my chimney pipe is safe in high winds, no worries..... :wow:
There are a lot of websites that have Class A chimney pipe and double wall inside pipe, so add it up yourself and figure about 500 dollars for labor cost. If it is way off, they are getting a lot from ya :cheese:
