Anyone own a XD subcompact? What do you think about it. Quality? Shootabilaty? Concealability? Looking at getting one in 40 to carry. Thanx

get one in 45 instead.my buddy has compact grip that takes fulls ize mags with a sleeve that doubles as a grip extension.

Oilstinks,

Don't know about the subcompact as I have the 357 sig tactical. IMHO you can't go wrong with any of the xd's.

thanks dobie daddy

I have an xd-9 v-10 with the porting. The subcompact is too small for me. I love mine. I will probably get some dawson sights on it when I get a chance but it is fun to shoot. With hollow points it is all you need for home protection. Many will tought the 40, 357, or 45 as better. I dare anyone to take a hollowpoint to the torso and see if they can still come at you! 9mm is cheap to shoot as well. You can get a 100ct box of winchester white box ammo on sale for about 18 bucks at wally world. Mine is ported for fun. Nice 10 port flame with each shot! In 1 weekend I put 800 rounds thru mine and no ftf, stovepipe or anything. Pick the caliber and enjoy!

All of the Springfields are nice guns. Not available in Mass though. I usually carry a 38 or 45 Smith & Wesson revolver with Crimson Trace sights. Mass. has a long list of guns not approved for sale in the Commonwealth. Progress is slow in some areas, esp. with the political do gooders who, often are driven around with state police protection.

I was curious about the sub because it will be a conceal not nesseceraly just for home defense but for family and car when im out.

you may also want to look at the Sig P230/232 or the Kahr brand. Also look into Bond Arms.they make a nice over and under derringer that hold two rounds of 45 Colt.my personal favorite round.

As just a conceal it should be great...you know conceal is for up close and personal...you will be a ble to articulate it fine even with big hands. If it were in the house or a shooter I like the regular size.

The great thing about xd's is that subs and compacts come with a grip xtender mag to make a full grip and clip when it is not in conceal carry mode. Thanx all.

I saw that in a gun rag. Isn't that just a match grade trigger and barrel? A little longer tail if I remember?

I haven't checked it out yet but I thought Oilstinks may be interested. Just saw a full page add in this month's American Rifleman. We can't buy it in Mass. so I'll just stick with good old S&W;.

For what it's worth, I love my Sig 232-380. Secondary to say the least, but dependable, rounded for pocket pulling, no hang ups. Not a big round, if you pull it, use the whole clip, it comes with a second clip too. Get the Sig night sites if you go this route....

I have the XD9sc. Good gun, one of the better polymer guns I have owned. I have since discovered 1911's and really like that platform alot. But the XD is a fine carry pistol.

Might want to chek out the Glock 27. It's nice and compact and in .40 S&W;. I ha ve been completely happy with mine. Don't know much aobut the Springfield, but sounds like a similar gun.

The xdm has a match barrel, trigger, changable backstraps and a new checker on grips thatkeeps the gun more stable. The slide cuts are also different to facilatate better grip when racking the slide back. You can also get 16+1 in 40sw in the standard frame. Thats a lot of rounds.

Hi, I've been checking out this site for the past week or so and this topic finally gave me a kick in the butt to join.

I have the sub-compact in 9mm. It's a great great gun. It's very accurate for it's size and conceals extremely well (I do carry it from time to time). It's also built extremely well, very solid feeling and easy to strip. My favorite part about the xd's is the grip angle, it's so easy to get on target and shoot, no limp wristing it. I think you'd be extremely happy with it if you choose to go that route.

For those of you that would like more practice but the 9mm is geting too expensive...I bought the beretta neos 22. Looks like buck rodgers but with a holo sight I can ring a bell over and over freehand at 50 yards. Then go back and you will want new sights on the xd %-P
