Corinth Pellets

I burned about eight tons of Corinth pellets last winter in two stoves. They burned fine. They're not my favorites, but they are certainly my favorite price around the Bangor area. Also, I like to support the new Maine companies. They more they can sell to Mainers, the less the likelihood is they'll ship 'em out of the country, I'm speculating. I tried Dysart's big one-ton tote. It worked out fine because I saved my empty pellet bags to recycle, and I just filled them half full in the garage and brought them into the house. 20 lbs is easier to lug than 40 for me. The 40s I have to hike up to my shoulder and bring in that way. I'll save a buck any reasonable way I can. They take $15.00 as a deposit on the bag. I've inquired about the outdoor silos. I'd like to get an eight-ton one this summer and get them in bulk if the price is right. If it's too high, I'll go back to Dysart's for some more ton totes.

My garage is unheated and not particularly sealed up very well, gaps here and there, and they did just fine in the tote. I made sure to put the cover back on each time. It's just a matter of pulling it together a little bit. A ton goes pretty quick in the winter. I'm not sure about storing them all summer in the totes because I haven't done it. What I'll probably do is get some bagged tons over the summer and get the totes in the fall to top off my supply and then use the totes first. Someone posted from our area about Granville in Holden delivering for a great price. I think it was $219/ton for bagged tons, and there was one $25.00 delivery charge up to 10 tons. That might be a good thing to look into. I think the pellets are more protected in the bags long term.

I liked the pellets, little ash, burned hot. There is a local dealer in Waterville "Spring Brook" is having a deal for the new company in Athen that advertise hardwood pellets $199.00 for a ton tot and $219.00 for a ton package in bags for prebuy in May. Has anybody tried the new pellets from Athens, not sure of what name they will be selling under?
