We've decided to buy a wood pellet stove to help cut HHO costs. Second only to choosing the right stove is: How much room does it require to store pellets? We have a screened in area of patio attached to the house and we thought about lining it top to bottom with plastic and keeping the pellets in there. It’s about 8’X 13’. About how much could we reasonably expect to fit in there? Would it be an OK storage space? Are they delivered on pallets to keep them offf the cement floor? (I've got a ton of questions, but I'll start with these.) Thanx in advance for any help you can give us.

It depends - if you want to go the spendy route, you can get a hopper and a snaking auger to automatically put pellets in your stove. Some services fill hoppers directly from a truck, and some other services will tell you to suck wind after leaving a four ton pile of pellets in your driveway.

I personally have a four and a half ton Pellestor hopper with an auger. I don't have to load anything except for the hopper, and it's easy to load the hopper with a dump truck.

if the pellets are on pallets they will take approx. 4'x4' . if your screend porch is enclosed, you will have to break down the pallets and restack in your porch.a little bit of handeling but worth it in the long run.

You also might want to make sure you have a solid foundation under it, several tons in that small area might be a lot more than it was designed to hold.

The hopper sounds great but wouldn't work for me. The patio floor is a cement slab, so that shouldn't be a problem. Now I have to determine which are the best pellets to buy. Any advice would be great. Thanks so much for your input so far! ;-)
