Just like the post says - going to purchase the new stove for upstairs to supplement the Olympic I have. The 13 should do the trick just fine and will be replacing an existing POS that I have only burned a few times. I wish I had made this decision back at the end of winter as I could have paid $300-$400 for this stove - but oh well!

Home Depot is actually the cheapest I have found one - not by sticker price but due to the No cost for shipping. I can get one for under $800 with tax where shipping from another site costs $125 by itself (ace hardware).

Questions:

- Any other places to check out?
- anyone buy one and do not want it?
- Any other insight?

I would give overstockstoves.com a call at 888-598-1926. They only list the 30-NC on the website but since they sell it for $799 including shipping if they will in fact sell a 13 it should be at a nice price.

Forgot about the overstockstoves site, thanks.

And I already called a few Agways Tfin, to no avail.

Lowes is going to carry that unit this year , possibly a better cost , though i do not know for sure. took this picture today in the lab of a 13-nc burning a small load

What are you doin', Mike...just trying to get him salivating? Almost makes me wish it was cold again...no, wait, I've way too much work to do before I'll be ready for next burning season! :) Rick

just a little tease, i just shot that and some other pictures today , we had our photographer who shoots our photo's for literature up and we burned the 13 to get an authentic burn picture to have for our flyers. having my cam with me , i shot up some as well. darned pretty burn aint it.

by the way , we had a 50kbtu AC unit working its fanny off trying to keep the lab livable while this burn was going on, it got worse when corie lit the EP pellet stove for shots of it burning as well.

I'd say simply that you're a master of understatement. :) Rick

Well dang it. You know that means I just have to toss a pic of that 13s big brother in doing its thing.

OK, so now we've heard from both the master of understatement and the master of overstatement...anyone else?...anyone? Rick

The master of median statement?

There are a few around...unable to comment about this right now because they're very busy with the Presidential campaign. OK, sorry! :bug: Back on topic, then... Rick

FYI I stopped into my local Lowes tonight and they had the small stove selling for 799.00. This was not the NC model but the exempt model. I thought that was a little high and it bothers me that they would promote that model to the general public instead of the 13ncl. The 13 is the non-cat model that is a better performer and I am afraid that a lot of people will be buying the 12 and not get as good of a stove. Its too bad in my opinion. my $.02

Mike,

I think Rick about summed it up:

I would add only that I thought for sure you were going to say the professional photog. took the shot you posted.

But no! It turns out you are responsible for such great piro-porn!

Clearly, you have an inner "artiste" that is struggling to express himself....

Well done!

I thought the only difference between the 12 and the 13 was the sq ft heating capacity with the 12 heating up to 1000 sq ft and the 13 doing 1500 sq ft.

Other than that, they look to be similar beasts?

Thanks for keeping this post up.

Personally I am more of a Lowes shopper than HD but have cash in hand and would like to stay a step ahead of the game. Maybe I will just wait and try and find out when the 13s will be arriving at Lowes. That will give more time for other priorities right now.

$799.00 for a 12-fp???? really? hmmm. where is this store? i'll have to check but that seems pretty high to me as well. unless maybe someone ordered it in as "SOS" order (which the freight is included in the cost) and then backed out of it after the order was placed. i'd wait it will be soon that they will get host order. i can maybe see that for the 13 , but not the 12.

The day you can find a deal at Agway, let me know. The earth will truly have moved!

the difference is in the design, internally , if you look in your 13 that you have at home , there are tubes and a refractory baffle. if you look up in the 12 you see the bottom of the flue. the 12 is what we call a "freestanding fireplace" its a room heater , but not a house heater in my opinion , it does however create one of the prettiest flame patterns you will find in a woodstove. but it lacks the secondary combustion element which creates the added kick of heat , hence the lower rating with the same size firebox.

And not EPA certified. It is a 35:1 air ratio EPA exempt stove.

Not to high-jack the post but I wanted an Englander 13 for my 30'x35' shop but it looks like I will have to buy another 30 because I cannot justify paying almost the same for the 13.

Will the 30 just blow me out of the shop?

Not if you remove the roof of the shop.

And, after the first few break-in fires, don't use any more napalm in it. :wow: Rick
