We have been on the fence about getting a pellet stove for about 6 months but we really had no choice. The price of oil is just crazy. We debated switching to all gas (have gas in the house) but it would cost more to do that than get the stove sooo today we went and we got the last St. Croix Afton Bay in stock!! I think it's a really pretty stove!! They will be installing in about 2 Weeks. I also bought 2 tons of pellets (they quarantee that for all new customers of stoves) and can pick them up anytime or have them delivered in September... I was worried about getting them in sep. but they have them there and are not allowed to sell any more pellets except for those who are buying the stoves... I also called another place and he will be delivering 3 tons in August for me. So I should be all set!! Anyway, can't wait to get it and see how we like it... We have a 1500 sq. ft. cape... Only really looking to keep the main floor heated. (abouy 700 sq ft) and use oil as a back up if we have too. do you think the Afton Bay can handle that??? Do you think 5 tons of pellets will be enough?? Thanks for any info as we are kind of new to all this... P.S. we paid $4000 installed with the kit for making the clearance from the window less than the four feet.. (we have 4ft and window, 4 feet and window all throught the house..) Is that a good price?? I did go to 3 other places but none carried the st croix. They had all different ones.. (harmon, quadra fire, beckwell)
