They don't do the bucket thing around here. They use 55 gallon blue plastic drums hooked to tubing and then to the taps on the trees. 1 barrel per 2-3 trees Depending on canopy. And they use all the sap cows along the roads. and then just go up and down the road with a tractor and wagon with a lift to switch the barrel's out when full. Now that seems like a good $$$ versus labor trade off. I am sure you wouldn't want any of our "bastardized" Midwest syrup though. :shut:

You don't buy the sap, and you charge an arm and a leg for real syrup.
I meant just for the time involved.. the raw materials are obviously not a big cost (except the fuel used to boil it).

I live about 10 miles from the Butternut Farm.

How many gallons do you want. Don't know if we have any left but I'll check. We usually sell most in bulk but do bottle some and retail it ouselves.

Could I get a gallon? Is it that dark, thick variety? How much for what quantities? PM me if you like! Thanks--

You mean the most maple syrup comes from Vermont, because Maine produces the best.

(Now ducking for cover as well) ;-P

I never had a problem with maple syrup from CT. And have bought a lot from Quebec. Both good, as well as the VT syrup I've tried. Sounds like time for another review. Send me your maple syrup and we'll do a blindfolded taste-off.
