I'm starting to get really pissed off, paid my pellets at end of May, some delays but then was promised delivery by 3rd week in July.....and still NOTHING..!!

not even returning my calls/emails.....last one sent last night, hoping someone could get back to me..

I've been waiting long enough and purchased at early price of $205, I really don't want to get my money back (UNLESS I really have to go that direction.....) but my pellets, buying elsewhere would be much more $$$ right now.

Any advice please on exactly what type of conversation and "voice tone" if they call me back ??
I am very frustrated but at the same want to stay calm and don't want to say something "incorrect" if I get them on the phone.

Yup. Had 5 tons delivered this past Monday that I paid $230 per.

Obviously you are a better shopper than I am.

I hope you receive yours soon.

when did you pay yours??
did they call you to schedule delivery
what town you live?

wondering if you can detail more on your responses from them......

thanks.

Situations like this, and the Harman deal are what keep me from paying for ANYTHING i can't put my greedy little fingers on. Its too easy for a business to stick it to you. You got a great price if they actually show up before heating seson, or at all. I hope they come through for you. If it were me , i'd make sure i had some pellets at my house by september...... one way or another.

Bingo!!! My sentiments exactly. I NEED to go there....buy my pellets....load em....come home....unload em...done. Not wondering if they come in damaged etc or if i am going to get them in time etc...

Not ready to cancel my stove yet. The oil situation will always be volatile, glad to be setting up an alternative heating source.

I am with you. Boom and bust cycles on the oil industry are accelerating. Having that alternative heating is only going to make me look like a genius down the road. I will keep my fingers crossed that others ahead of me in the Harman production line decide to drop out and free up inventory for me.

No one will mistake you for Einstein for waiting until 2008 before investigating alternative energy. As to hoping that others "drop out and free up inventory for me", well, are we a bit self-centered or what? It appears from your post that you are looking for a pellet stove because you don't like fluctuations in the price of oil. How much of your decision, which I would point out you did not make in 03, 04, 05, 06 or 07, is based on a desire to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and US dependence on OPEC oil?

There has only been one oil boom cycle of any merit before this - 1979..........so to say they are accelerating is to say because it is raining now, it is likely to do so next year.

I think the smart consumer....those who, as other say, did not buy or want a stove when oil was $2 a gallon - should hedge their bets by getting oil when it is reasonable and getting pellets at the best deal possible.

The reality is that about 4 to 5x as many people want to burn pellets this year as opposed to last year. It's not because that many decided to go green instantly, it is because of the perception that the pellets will be cheaper. Sometimes this is true, sometimes not...but in the manner of life insurance, maybe we should be glad if our pellet stove paybacks are LONGER.....in other words, if we burn a ton or two a year instead of 4 because oil is somewhat reasonable....

i would hope theres more members that get there pellets.i like cash and carry myself.

I was very fortunate to be able to arrange for a 2-week delivery of all my 4 tons of pellets from a local dealer in June. I would be very VERY skeptical of ordering pellets from anybody who couldn't give me a firm delivery date. Unfortunately with the current demand I am sure that's exactly the situation most are stuck with but next year when it's time to order again I will certainly try to get the best price but if I have to pay a little more to get a prompt delivery then so be it.

Not to get in a pissing match my comment was made in jest, however as a new homeowner in the US who purchased an oil fired house for the first time in 07 sort of stopped me from investing in pellet stoves . However I would like to point out that I have been an expat involved in the oil business for 20 years. During this time I have lived in Nigeria, Libya, Scotland, Australia, Norway, Egypt and Saudi and seen a lot of BOOM and plenty of bust (property, services, people and panic) during those times. I think I have a pretty good idea of the fact that we have been on the downslope on oil availability for the last five years. Also the US is not beholden to oil from the middle east. It is simply proven reserves (akin to gold in a bank) which makes the rest of the world hostage to it. The US gets the majority of oil from our neighbours to the North and South. Having been an advocate of alternative power generation (note I do not say fuel for a reason) the best way for the US to move forward to reduce oil dependance is to improve current electricity carrying grids and infrastructure. The Econcomist has a very good article on that in the last issue. One last thought 2/3 of our daily use of oil is for gasoline consumption. The biggest way to reduce that use is to have more efficent cars (ie smaller less weight with the better engines that have been designed in the last ten years). The technology and means to reduce our dependance on oil already exist. The question is will we do what is neccessary on our own! Here is the link to the US oil demand by sector. It makes for chilling reading and has been known by government and oil policy makers for the last ten years...enjoy!

can we please keep focus on the tittle of this thread?

it is getting deviated to oil/pellets discussions in a different way.....I appreciate those who provided some feedback on the situation with this dealer

newenglandpelletsllc.com

thanks guys for any more comments on this, to the first poster (itworks) I'd really appreciate if you can answer my questions above and also let me know the brand you got from them.

My trailer load that I ordered in mid-May was supposed to be delivered today after finally getting a date for delivery when I phoned 2 weeks ago. When I checked with them earlier this week I was told they didn't have any pellets and they were having some problems getting them from the plant. She told me they've made an arrangement with another supplier somewhere west of here, and also were expecting a railcar load. I'm to check with them during the week and see if I'm on for next Saturday. I'm supposed to be at the top of the queue she said.
Will update as I know more.

I also spoke with them a couple times 2 weeks ago and was told they had just begun delivering localy and the response was overwhelming. Thier suppliers were just "ramping up production" and they expected to be receiving alot of shipments in the coming weeks and so would also be delivering alot more. I am on the outskirts of thier area ( not even in the "new" delivery area, but I did get my order in very early) so I woulndt be getting delivery for a while still but she Guarantee's I will have my pellets before burning season.

-also I have spoken with someone everytime I've called ( 5 times), during the day and as late as 8:00pm if I called the number thats on the answering machine.

What is the "guarantee"? Will they pay for substitute oil instead or will they give you 300 or 400 (or whatever the going rate is at the time) to get them from someone else? Or does it simply mean they'll give you your money back? That's hardly a guarantee since to do otherwise is fraud. I'm really interested in what that guarantee they're offering is. Also, did she define the "burning season"? I had a stove dealer who guaranteed stove delivery before heating season - and offered a mid-December delivery date. He figured the "official" winter start (12/21) as the start of the heating season.

Yeah, I know. I am going to call back this week and will try to get more specific details then. But at least I have the calls recorded, so that if push comes to shove I have something where they acknowledged the order and said they would definately be delivering.

All they need to do is give your money back.deals fall threw all the time.i'm hopping everybody gets there pellets.i have 3 tons and need 3 more.

I already have my pellets, but I asked my stove dealer how much he was charging now for pellets? (I bought mine somewhere else). He is getting $329 a ton!!! wow that is a rip off! I paid $250. delivered two months ago. But his price for my Harman was $3100. and now it's $3500 (this is the price Harman requires).

I also spoke to them today....she stated that I am the only one in my area and is getting hard to get a truck scheduled JUST for me, and that they'd deliver by the "burning season" and she asked when I start burning pellets, I replied "end of this month...." so she replied "I will try but no promises....don't know what to tell you.....you want your money back ?, do you want to come and get them..."

what the.....they don't understand that we as customers demand delivery of what we bought, I bought in May at $205, I don't want my money knowing I'd need to pay much more than that.....I hope to get my pellets and would never buy from this place again.

Im so glad i dont have to worry about that am getting 3 truck loads a week and keeping up with my customers demands. I do feel bad for the customers who have to deal with bad business practices. But on the other hand some people are at the mersey of the manafacture.

the problem is that they've been changing positions all the way, if I was given a July delivery date when I purchased I'd waited without problems, however telling a customer:
-2nd/3rd week in June.....no delivery
-2nd/3rd week in July.....no delivery
-this is now August....no delivery....

That's what the real problem is about, you as the customer who paid the money would be concern......

Have you received yours?
Have they given you delivery date?
what town are you in?
