I finished my hearth pad today and it fits perfectly. I put a layer of Durock over 1/2" plywood and then used 6x6 slate tiles. Finished the edges with some stained oak trim. All in all just over $100 in materials. Of course I splurged for a new tile saw for use on some other projects I've got planned. All I need now is my stove and pellets and some cold weather.

Very very nice. That Mt Vernon is going to look super on the new hearth.

Very Very Nice!!
Is it the 3ft size?
I am putting the final touches on mine.
Alot of work but well worth it.
I like the way you used all of the colors. Makes mine look a bit plain!

I am also waiting for the stove; pellets and........what was that "C" word again??

Very nice!!
Looks great with that wall color too!

The back and sides are 41 3/4" I think. I followed the dimensions for the 40" Hearth Classics pad from the brochure.

Thanks for all your kind words.
