Anyone else waiting for a GARN?

I was supposed to have my GARN WHS2000 by now, but my dealer just told me that it may be another 6 weeks. :( I ordered mine the last week of June, and was told that I would have it in early August. Well, heard nothing since sending the dealer my deposit check, so I called yesterday. The story is/was that my unit got bumped from this shipment due to a "replacement" that was going to a previous customer. Perhaps that customer got MY unit. It sounds like there was a substantial defect and they supplied a new unit to the customer. Good for them, but not so good for me. To my dealer's credit, he is trying to get another unit shipped sooner, but I am not holding my breath. <sigh>

I've been busting my butt to get ready for delivery, and now it looks like I am 6 weeks early. Not really, but . . .

I'm waiting also Jim, so I didn’t get yours. I didn’t get my deposit in till July 8th so you will probably get yours before me L. I still have not trenched for the 175’ of pex so you are way ahead of me!
 
I spoke with them this week regarding shipment dates for the 4 that I have sold. They are in the process of getting 3 new robotic welders set up and expect production to be ramped up within a couple weeks. They are hoping to get lead times down to 3-6 weeks instead of the current 12-14. I think they'll be able to pull it off as they realize that production capacity as it stands currently is totally unsatisfactory.
It'll be worth waiting for, especially when you are still enjoying the benefits from the same piece of equipment 20 years from now.
 
Heaterman - my dealer as well as a direct GARN rep told me that they had ramped up production capacity in response to increased, and in anticipation of increasing, demand. I was led to believe that the production capacity increase was already in place, but clearly it is not. I know it is worth the wait, but it does not make it any more fun!

Sawyer - I have less than 60 feet of trench to dig, so I have been delaying that until I got closer to the delivery time frame. I guess I will start now anyway, and then do the internal run that I need in the garage.

I have a piping diagram to run by the brains here, as well as a monitoring/control panel idea. Those posts will show up soon.

Theri production capacity as of today is twice what it was last year at this time. They thought it would be enough to meet demand but alas........they were mistaken. Currently they are working at doubling it again with the addition of the robot welders and a couple more that wear work boots. That is the increase in production that I was speaking of. The other has already happened. It'll get there. Patience young Skywalker.

Are you kidding me? They must only got three welders then. I seen a Garn unit at the MREA this summer and I got to say that I was not at all impressed with the quality of weld so maybe these new robots will improve that. I have worked around robot welders and they can't replace a good human welder. The newest robot could only complete 5 hours of product compared to the 8 hours that a human would do in a 8 hour shift., but it did do some nice welds!

Maybe I could contract for them and build some too! There ain't nothing I can't weld, except a broken heart and the crack of dawn :lol:
 
I just picked mine up yesterday. I was initially supposed to get it two weeks ago, but mine was given to someone else who was ready to go sooner then I was. I apparently got the next one that was ready to ship (or so I was told). You can see some pictures under my thread titled "Preparing my Garn Installation - getting close!"

The delay wasn't a problem for me, as my garage construction was able to continue, and I don't really need it (just want it) till heating season begins. However, if I had gotten it on the first planned date, getting it into the garage would have been easier, as it could just be lifted over the few courses of block that constituted the garage at that time, and lowered into place. Any midsize excavator with a bucket would have worked for lifting and moving. The delay meant it had to be "slid in" horizontally through a garage door, with only a few inches to spare. Worked out OK, though, as my builder had access to a Lull, (quite an impressive machine) that made it possible to get it into the garage with just those few inches to spare, without even breaking a sweat. Sweet!
 
Congratulations Hugh! Now that you got yours I will be one unit closer to picking mine up. It seems there will be quite a few Garns within a couple hundred miles of Mpls.

Hugh - I have a similar problem with having to slide my unit into it's home with little room to spare. I plan to slide mine off my trailer with winches and slip sheets. I am dropping an ancor loop in the concrete so I have a point to winch it from. Those rough terrain lifts are great, but renting one for 20 minutes of work is prohibitively expensive for me. Luckily you already had access to one.
 
My dealer just confirmed that it will be some time around the second week of September before my GARN is in PA. I'll just keep plugging on other parts of the system until the Big Green Baby gets here.

That is all.
 
Hi Jim,
I went with the 1500... 3000 sq foot home new construction. And a new well insulated post and beam barn.!
