Hi Folks,
I just recently found this forum and I'm having a ball reading all the info available. I'm looking for a stove that will take a 24" piece of firewood. I not interested on how "pretty the stove is" but the ability to throw off heat. I have an old wood stove in the basement I use and a Waterford wood stove in a small section of my house I also use. I want to sell the Waterford stove and locate my next stove in my larg family room which is more centrally located to heat the whole home. The house is about 2,200 sq. ft. Any opinion's will be appreciated.

I dont think your gonna get much of a stove selection if any for an EPA stove thats going to take 24" fire wood. Even
the biggest stoves are 18" to 20" max. Maybe bumping this thread will help you get some more input.
By the way... WELCOME TO THE HEARTH Tankfull and good luck on your search. Someone will hopfully pull a rabbit out of a hat fer ya.

Hearthstone Equinox not cheap and my be difficult to find but would be your best bet or at least on top of my list.

Jotul makes the f600cb which is a beautiful cast iron stove that will take up to 24" logs. It will certainly heat your 2,200 sqr/ft, and then some. It won't be the cheapest on the block, but with Vermont Castings' current state of affairs, it will be a great choice. Just curious, why the interest in 24" logs?

I usally cut my wood 20" to 24" just to save time and to get a long burn time with my current stove. Thanks for the reply.

The BlazeKing King 1107 will take 23" logs. 24" is stretching it a bit for a woodstove. Have you considered a wood boiler?

The Vermont Castings Defiant and Dutchwest stoves take 24" logs.

Yes I have. I'm tying to get the best bang for my buck. Not sure if the cost of a wood boiler vs. a new larg wood stove centrally located in my home would be worth it. I'm Lucky I have free access to firewood. However I also want to burn the wood more efficient than I do now.
