Feeling the Heat

I know the Harman topic on the back orders has been quiet for a few weeks. For the people who ordered there Harman and are waiting to take delivery have you heard from the dealer on a date? Have you had to call the dealer to get an update? Are you having second thoughts since crude oil is now just over $100 per barrel? I know it's been a long wait for me, I ordered my Harman Insert back in early June! I have an expected delivery date for early November. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get it in time for the winter season. I will admit though, I have had second thoughts about not taking delivery and just washing my hands of the entire project.

I thought that was the first line of a joke. "Anyone heard of the Harman order?" Well a Harman dealer walks into a bar an says he can't find the guy who ordered an insert. 'Who wants it for a drink?" ....... I forgot the punch line waiting for mine to show up.

Glad I paid the extra and got one out of Ohio.

My dealer knows nothing about the Harman screw up story and claims my stove is still comming in november that I ordered in July.
No hard date was given to them or me. It's all a crap shoot. Dealer isn't easy to talk to either. No assurance from them and that is fustrating me, but they hold the cards and know it. The whole thing sucks.

Ordered my Accentra Insert Early June. My Due date has only gone back a couple of weeks. Been Assured Second week October for some time now.
No Second thoughts,as looking long term.

Saw my dealer a week ago, my P68 is still expected in late November. All his scheduled deliveries have been on time and have been what he ordered. He got a delivery in August, his next is on schedule for October, so he expects no problem with mine in November. On the plus side, there have been cancellations by some of his customers, so many are moving up the line. So there are some out there having second thoughts, or have found an alternative stove, like the models that I have seen in Lowes and Home Depot, so there is no shortage on those brands. I'm sticking with my original order. Even if it never pans out with savings, I'll have a fire of sorts to look at and will always have an alternative for heat in my home.

Originaly the date given to me for the Accentra freestanding was End of November. The delaer then updated me to say end of Jan09 when they had done a follow up call with other dealers to the manufacturing plant in July. I was told in August that Harman is going flat out to fill orders (you have probably heard the same tripling the line etc). In August I talked with the dealer and they said that they are tracking orders coming in about 1 month earlier than invoiced. Example was a shipment of stoves post Harman delay was due in Sept and arrived in August. They rightfuly told me not to anticipate this occuring for my order so I should still expect a stove in January but it doe make me optomistic that it might arrive earlier. Likewise the dealer told me that as people were dropping off the list that might free up a stove earlier. Finaly thought is I researched the stove I wanted (Harman) for many reasons (hearth size, quiet specs, heat output etc) and I have decided to wait no matter what for this stove. The fundemental problems with oil (not enough and too much demand) are not going to go away. So regardless of where oil is now in the future it will be expensive again. If I get off the pellet stove train now I will wish I was back on it again in 12 months.

Good luck to all those of you who are waiting for your stoves eventually you will get them and in the long view you will be better off for them.

I was told sept and mine came in Aug, sitting in my living room now.
My inlaws ordered a Harman pellet boiler, were told late Nov delivery, that has been bumped up to early Nov.

As for Oil prices... our current group by price is still about $1 more this year than last as of friday. My pellets at at $250-300 are still cheaper than oil so I'm happy. If heating oil keeps going down the price of pellets will fall as well. Its

The Harmon P61A that I ordered at the beginning of June is being installed tommorrow. When news of shortages broke I went into the dealer to discuss my options. At that point I was number 3 in line for the model stove I wanted and had already put some money down. I decided to wait it out. I stayed in touch and was told one of the people ahead of me either grabbed a refund or bought another model putting me in the 2 hole. As I understand it, they received two of the P61As last week so my one notch up the ladder move proved to be an important one. I just completed my hearth so everything is ready to go for tommorrow. The only thing I haven't heard any news on is the pellets that I ordered from another supplier around that same time. Supposed to start filling orders in September so no need to panic quite yet. Good luck to those on either waiting list.

Was at the county fair last weekend. Both local stove dealers had tents with the full Harman line on diaplay.
Neither would sell the display model. One had a sign that read " order your stover now for a 03/09 delivery.
The other told me not to expect it in and installed before next summer.

Sad

Praise baby J e s u s, my dealer called today and claims my stoved ordered in July is in his warehouse. I only hope it is not a leftover manufactured years ago.
