You gonna mount it up or down ? How about tapping's ? Installed inside house or out in shed ? Your truck looks like it handled the weight alright. Guess it helps to have a loader around.

I'm gonna mount it horizontal. I've gotta weld in tappings. Tank seems in pretty good shape. Better than I expected. I took out the drain and flushed it out a little. No gunk or smell. I can hardly smell any odor in the tank at all. I'll flush it out a few times then fill it up with water, say a few "Hail Mary's" and go at it.

If you are going to set it horizonal You probably will be able to use the fittings already in the tank. Most tanks have at least one 1-1/2 and one 1-1/4 with a couple other 1in or 3/4in holes. Weld a pipe on the bottem of your return pipe so when you screw it into the tank it will be about two inches from the bottem. Pull the hot off the top and you are set to go, One of the 1in or 3/4in fittings will have a dip tube in it as that is the fitting that was used to pump out the propane.

I'm gonna go with 4 1-1/4" couplings on the top of the tank. I'm trying to find out in another topic here if I can get away with using 1" instead of 1 1/4" charging the tank and supplying the heating load.

I don't know about other tanks but I lucked out on this one. Very faint odor. Flushed it with about 10 gallons of water, just clear water drained out. Again, very slight propane odor. I don't smell the foul, skunkish odor of mercaptain. I'm gonna flush it out with water and bleach next. Then about two full water flushes, then comes the welding. (pray-for-me!!)
