we recently purchased breckwell big e. we have burned it a couple times and after shutting it down both times , the fan stays on for two to three hours after shutdown. is this normal? i imagine the fan stays on until the internal temperature reaches a certain point but this seems like long period of time for the fan to keep running. please let me know what you think.

I also have a Big E and though this is my first year with it I have fired it up a couple of times. My fans shut down in probably 20 minutes or so. I think that it shuts down when it reaches a certain temperature inside. Hopefully you will get some response from people who have used Big E's for awhile. Eric, where are you????

It is normal for the fan to run after the stove is shut down. Its runs until the stove gets down to a set temperature.

Your fan is not supposed to run for hours after you shut the stove down. Yes the fan is to run until the stove cools down. The fan running for hours after shut down would mean the stove is taking hours to cool down . Could be , but I would give my dealer or Breckwell a call or email.

Sure sounds like a long time for the fan to run.
My Avalon Astoria ran for about 20 minutes after it shut down on a test burn of 1 hour before the fan shut off, and that was on the deck on a 90 degree day.
I guess all stoves are different....was it really hot in the house to begin with? Did you put your hand in front of the air coming from the heat exchange tubes...was it warm after the 2-3 hours? If not, IMO, then something else is wrong.

My Big E only takes about 20 minutes or so after turning off for the fan to shut down. A few hours seems a bit long.

Sorry, a little late in answering. On Sunday we lost power at the house (during half time of the Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh game). I was told I might have power back on by Saturday. Thanks to a diesel generator I can flush a toilet and take a shower.

The only thing that shuts the blowers off is the POF thermodisc, once is gets under 90 degeres then it will shut both blowers off. seems like its just taking a while for your POF to re open. nothing to be worried about, now if your stove shuts down with a number 2 or 3 blinking light then thats a whole different ball game.
