Hi,

Last year before I installed my liner, my brother fabricated a ss cap to cover the entire top of the chimney. It's about 22 x 16 and the return over the side is 3". We removed the existing cement cap and flue to the level of the brick veneer and installed the new cap with the 6" liner coming through. I think this a much better aplication than the cap that is offered in the chimney packages. Luckily for me, my brother is a metal fabricator.

Who are you getting your prices from? Pretty much any tinner would be able to fabricate that. When I purchased my stove, the dealer had a tinner on staff. This guy made a custom cap for my entire chimney and chase. I will check the price when I get home to varify but I believe I paid $80 for it.
