In retrospect, I should have taken more pictures of the transformation from old to new, but oh well, too late now.

That is going to be a HUGE difference from the old fireplace. Now, just one thing missing... FIRE!!! I think you're going to love your new stove. And nice job on the hearth. It looks much better than the old one.
 
Nice job, looks great. I thought I was the only one with a fireplace open on two sides! Surprisingly, my fireplace worked pretty well as a fireplace, but obviously its much better to have a nice stove stuffed in the thing instead.

Nice work on the hearth also. Did you add that post in the corner of the opening? Good thought.
You will be amazed at the heat that puts out, especially compared to the old fireplace.

No, the post was there supporting the masonry above, you can kind of see it in the first picture just behind the poker leaning up against the old cover, but it's hard to see.

Yeah, I am really hoping this stove will be key in helping us keep the oil man away from our home. I'm sick of oil heat. Our house has no basement so the oil tank is literally in the house, whenever the oil truck comes to fill the tank the house stinks of oil for a week after. I really want this stove to be our main source of heat form now on.

Also, wood is free :)
 
looks good to me....just weeks away from serious burning too. Good luck with her!
