This is our first experience with a wood stove and we didn't really know that the blower usage was determined by the temp. It is an electric blower. Bulit in. Can anyone tell me about how much energy the blower will use if it is on low and how much of an electric increase we will be expecting? Also, the manual says Caution, do not operate the stove without the blower. What happens if the power goes out and the stove is your source of heat? Thanks for the time Hel

The blower probably uses from 50-120 watts....or about 1 cent an hour.

There are a couple reasons that they suggest not turning it off:

1. If you run the stove very hot without it going, you may damage the electrical parts...in other words, when they are going they keep themselves cool.
2. If you run the stove very hot without come air circulation around it, it is more subject to steel warpage, etc.

I suspect #1 is the major reason. If the power goes out, open the blower compartment at the bottom to allow as much air to enter by convection....if for an extended period of outage (days), you might consider removing the fan. Most stoves with fans below (like yours) will do OK in a power failure anyway, since air will tend to be pulled in the bottom by natural convection.

Thank you very.... much for the answers. We love keeping the home warmer than 60 without the energy bill and we have never been as fit as we are this year from gathering and chopping wood. Thanks again.
