Go to stillusa.com then go to find retailers with online pricing. There you'll find all the pricing you need, and you'll then decide to go with the Dolmar 5100 S for $400.00 with a 18" bar. :)

Love it.

And it's thanks to this site that I found out about Dolmar.

hmmm. NW Arkansas. Sthil MS 280 16" bar is about $400 - $20 more 18" bar. That was all I looked at.

If this was all the saw you was going to have, I would give the MS361 a look over.

you might consider a used saw, I picked up a clean 026 for 200

In Grand Rapids you can pick up a Stihl MS310 with an 18" bar for $510 at Plainfield Lumber.....great saw.

Ok I am ready to shot myself. Paid a man 90 dollars today to get my poulan 300 running and get my poulan 295 running better. I ask him to call me if it was over 90 bucks he did not. Now I see the 300 needs a clutch I am looking for a clutch tool seen one on ebay but it did not say it would fit a 3000 but did say it would fit a 3050. Going to start saving for two good chainsaws. One being some what bigger than the other. My wood pile is getting bigger have not used any pellets yet. Thanks for all the input.

No offense but for $510 I can think of at least 4 other saws I'd rather have first for the money. While the MS310 is a decent saw I don't think it's worth the high price tag many dealers demand for it especially since other saws like the 346XP NE and PS5100 beat the pants off it for more than $50.00 less.

Hell you could keep an eye on craigslist in most areas and pick up an older 031 which is the same saw for ~$200.00. I love most of Stihl's saws but personally I find that the MS310 is one of the ones that is very overpriced.

Well after cutting three cords in August/September with my MS310 I tend to think it was worth every penny. But to each his own I suppose. Stihl is a top rate saw. I didn't consider Husky's because I knew I wanted the Stihl from the beginning...

20 plus cords this season yes the 310 is a great saw for the money!

Howell MI is close to Mason, MI. Go down to Superior Saw and they'll set you up with the right machine for what you're aiming to do. Might even have something used/rebuilt in the back, if you know to ask...

I have 290 Stihl, great saw, if I used wood as my main heat source I would buy a 390. Same weight as 290 with 6/10-8/10 more horsepower.

Hi All
I did it the other day bought a new stihl ms250c with a 18in bar now I have all my old chainsaws for cale on graigslist and in the local paper. I might buy another bigger stihl saw down the road. Thes new stihl runs and cuts real good. the chain is lasting longer (staying sharp) than the oregon chains i think.

I own a Stihl ms310 with a 20" bar, had it for 5 years cut about 15 cords per year. It runs circles around my buddies saws, especially with a chisle skip chain on it. But back to the topic

I just bought my son a used for one season ms170 with a 16" bar for Christmas 2008 (shhh dont tell him), looked new, runs like a ***** ape - paid $125.00
