I put my second englander stove in yesterday. It went in front of our fire place. Pulling the damper out was a pita, but all and all it went well. Boy does it work well. I'm running no OAK. We burned about 1/4 to keep our house, a ranch about 1700 SQ feet, at 72F for 15 hours. It got to 32 last night! Our house is very open, but the stove did great. Didn't even have to turn the basement stove on.

Won't you have a hard time accessing the cleanout T
with that stuff around the opening of the fireplace?
Just curious because it's hard enough getting back
there with nothing in the way.

Do you feel any drafts around the stove? Light a match and blow it out around the stove and see if the smoke pulls up the chimney. If the damper is not blocked off, the chimney will suck the heat out of the house. I sealed my damper off around the pipe. ( Maybe to good) I didn't want all my heat going up the stack.
