OK all you veteran woodburners, who can tell me the best product/method for cleaning that nasty stuff off my fireplace glass doors? I am sure that someone has found the magic bullet!

i dunno... i just use oven cleaner and newspaper as the wipe... works like a charm!

easyoff i think it is.... the wife bought but god forbid she use it to clean the oven!

I always used Windex and newspaper.

Fold up a paper towel dampen with Windex or similar, dip in fine ash powder from the stove and wipe off the crud. Follow up with a clean towel and Windex

I use Rutland grill and glass cleaner. Works like a charm with a wet paper towel.

This has been discussed here quite a lot... I recently tried the "dip paper in ash" trick and wow does that work slick!

same here...why go buy something that you can do for free. wet paper towel and fine ass is the best

ok change that to ash....both are good to have

fine steel wool #0000 with no water or cleaner. Just rub it off

the cheapest thing going and what i use.

A retired dish rag steps are as follows.
1. wet rag
2 wring out rag
3 fold into quarters
4 dip 1 quarter in to fine ash
5 use quarter dipped in fine ash to clean glass
6 use a different quarter to clean any ash residue off glass
7 use a different quarter to clean any other ash residue off glass
8 repeat step 7 if needed.
9 admire your very clean glass and be glad it didn't cost you anything.
10 send crazy_dan a tip ;)

Any kind of bottled water, paper towel with leather gloves. We do it 1st thing in the morning before reloading...doesn't even take a minute. Be careful using tap water I learned here that some hard water can leave a permanent frosty haze on the glass.
