anyone ever replace the firebrick on a vermont castings vigilant coal stove? I see my fire brick is cracking and needs to be replaced. I suspect its not too hard, but I havent given the situation a good look yet.

We have replaced a couple over the past 3 months and now have to replace the 4 in the rear. They were cracked and fell off into the coals. Today the quest is for proper sized brick along with good cement. The bricks that we were told would fit and the cement that we were told would work have not lasted. Each time we shake the grates they would come loose in the back. Good luck. Samantha

I was told by the previous owner of a vigilant i just bought that the firebricks were held in by gravity, no glue. I bought a box of 4 at a wood stove place that sold VC. Anyway the size is 9X4 1/2.X1 3/4
