I purchased a Breckwell SE and noticed the rope gasket missing on the top and bottom of the window. I read a previous post where someone was missing the rope gasket on the bottom of the window and was told it's the "airwash". My window is missing the gasket on the top *and* bottom....is it supposed to be that way?

I get a huge puff of smoke that comes out of the window on start up and there is definitely a wood smoke smell in my house. I've been using pellet stoves for 17 years (this is my 3rd stove, but my first Breckwell) and I have never seen this airwash set up.

Bottom line: should there be rope gasket on 4 sides? 3 sides? or just 2 sides?

Thanks for your input.

Not that I have ever saw, I only shut mine down in the winter for cleaning . So mine is not starting and shutting down a lot.

Thanks. I think the big puff of smoke that comes out is odd; I have never had a stove do that before. I think I will contact Breckwell and see what the smoke is about. Thanks again!

The only smoke i get is when the Ignighter is hot and the pellets are smoldering before they ignite.very normal and when i get flame the smoke goes away.

I get the smoke inside the stove as the pellets are smoldering too but does your stove emit a big puff of smoke into the room when the pellets actually ignite? Thanks so much for your help, everyone.

No.Where does it come out of the stove into the room???

Ok, this is what happens: the pellets smoulder then when they ignite, there is a big puff of smoke that comes out of the airwash openings and it appears to also come from the heat exchanger tubes. It only happens on start up, not the rest of the time it's running. There is enough smoke that it takes an hour or so to clear from the room.

I have tried calling Breckwell and their message tells me to leave a message but their voice mail is full, so I am going to send them an email now.

Let us know what they say.good luck molly.

The burn pot was not flush to the back of the stove for some reason. I am now waiting to try restarting to see if this helps. Thank you very very much for your help!
