My Last Install Question...

I am doing the horizontal through-the-wall install. Straight out with a horizontal cap. This is on the englander stove. Do I need to use the t-pipe at all? Or can I just use 2 normal straight pipes and then cap it?

You can go straight out without the Tee. But (there's always a but), you might want to consider a vertical section outside and then you would need the Tee. For a straight out install, you can clean them pretty easy from either the outside going in with your vac & brush or better yet, the inside going out. With a Tee you'd want to use one with the cleanout on the bottom so you can simply unscrew the bottom cap to dump the ash that will settle in it and then brush/vac as normal.

In your position, I'd go with the simple straight thru and if I had no problems (lots of straight thru installs don't have problems) leave it as is. If you have draft issues or power goes out and get back feed into the stove, then you can always add the vertical section then. No sense in making it more complicated than you have to out of the chute.

I am not sure what kind of battery backup you are looking to install, but you may want to search some of threads on the forum regarding Battery backups, UPS, and Surge protectors. These are some heavily discussed topics in themselves. I just don't want you to spend money on something that wont work. For UPS units you'll want a pure sine wave. I spent $110 on a UPS only to get something that won't work. Good ole hind site.
