Sparks in horizontal exhaust

Please think about putting in a 3' vertical rise. The screen you installed will do more harm than good.

Mine throws a few sparks, no fire yet, they die out as soon as they hit the ground.

I have not had mine too long but I have watched mine every so often and most go out in the first 6" or so after they come out, I have only seen one piece even make it to the ground. Mine is @ 39" from grade and I do try to keep the leaves from beneath it, because it is in the only spot around the house where the leaves collect. I probably would have had mine installed with a short vertical rise but it wasn't suggested by the stove company and I didn't know anything about these stoves at the time. Don't take this wrong, Don't think it is like a sparkler on the 4th of July, you rarely see any fly ash come out, at least that's the case with mine.

Put down a couple of large size patio blocks, the 18x18's or 24x24's. That's recommended in some of the installs.

Bingo put down concrete blocks just under the exhaust. There is little worry about a fire but better safe than sorry. If it's continues to be a concern then but a large shallow metal bucket or a throw away alum tray with water in it under the vent this will ease your fears.
