Breckwell Big E

Been getting that a lot, actually 3 calls today and 2 on Monday. Do you have the cast burn pot?

Been telling people to run it on #2 until I can figure out why. Cast burn pots and small holes might be the problem but hold on before pulling the drill or saw-zall out. Not a job for the chain saw either, sorry wrong board.

Same here on a new Big-E.

Wont stay runing on "1", nor will hi-low keep running on the low side.

Cast Iron Pot, runs great on 2-5, but 1 is too low it appears...

Mine will run on 1, but it seems like the fire is really low. Mine also isn't brand new. Does anyone have a picture of how it should look at different settings and where you have the damper?

cast pot cannot run on 1 or 2 when first lit off but can run on 2 after it has warmed up good

Feeling luckly mine runs just fine on setting #1. I start the stove on #2, let run for an hr or so, and then drop to #1. I have what appears to be a stanless steel burn pot.

I have the trim on "1" and the damper about 1/4" out.

After hours of research and bringing in numerous Technicians we found the follow. The finding on this is that you need to have the damper all the way in to run on level 1.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with all the empty beer cans and drunken Hill Billys (sorry Appalachian Americans) passed out everywhere.

i tried to run mine on 1 again today because it warmed up a bit outside and it still will not run on 1 with the air register all the way closed.
Now I have a stove that only has 3 heat settings since I cant run it on 5 for very long.

I have a Breckwell Big-E. Mine will run on 1, but the damper has to be all the way in. It doesn't put out much heat, and I suspect I get a lot of "clinkers" on 1. Clinkers are what I call pellets that bounce out of the burn pot, unburned so I find them unburned in the ashpan.

I have a Big E and it will run on 1 but the window soots up pretty fast. It doesn't throw much heat but I keep the damper about 1/4 to 1/2 " out. I have it on a thermostat mode (hi/lo mode). So it has to run on 3 and also on 1 with the same damper setting. Could it possibly be the pellets that you are using? I have heard a lot of bad reports on some pellets this year. I know I am using Maine Woods Pellets and they are not the best at all. Low heat and alot of ash Atleast it does run on setting 1 though. I have burned some Lignetics and they are awesome compared to the Maine Woods. First year burning pellets so am still learning.

Not sure if you were responding to me or the Original Poster. When I say I don't get much heat, I mean on the "1" setting. I haven't needed to set it above 2 until last night, when the temperature was in the 20s'. Usually 2 is fine, 3 gets the house a little too warm for my wife and I (we like the house 69-71). 4 makes it unbearable right now, though when it gets really chilly, that might be just the ticket.

I use a pellet called "Granules" from Quebec. They appear to be great. Low ash, high heat. The big problem I face is unburned pellets bouncing down into the ash box. I'm wondering if I don't have the chute for the firebox pointing the wrong way. The tall side is supposed to go to the back, up against the firewall, right?
