I seem to get about 8 to 9 hrs sometimes 10 (warmer days)in oct nov and sometimes dec but in the cold monthe jan and feb I get about 6 or 7 hrs I have a air tight stove (knock off of a wood chuch )called a fire power 2150 something ele I learned is you can regulate how cold it gets in the house but not how hot it gets but I still love burning wood

Out here on the west coast we only have softwood to burn. And can say that this is my first year with my new epa insert, and it is still trial and error. Last nite, I loaded it kinda lazy, but still had enough coals to begin again this morning after 7hrs, and that is with a 2.5 cu.ft. firebox. Back where you are and easy access to hardwood, think you would be looking at 9-10 hours?

Seems for sure that east/west works the best for overnite. Providing you rake "all the coals" to the front first. Something I failed to do last nite. :red:

I'm still burning my shorts and odd pieces. I haven't really got a good solid load in the firebox yet so I'm getting about 5 hours in a tiny firebox. I think it's something like 1.75cu ft? I'm burning everything from oak to pine... Whatever is in the short pile.

When I hit the wood in the stacks I'll just get overnight because the ash will bank some coals.
