Thanks Mike and Englander. Once I was able tp talk to support they fixed me right up with a new combustion motor. i have installed the new motor and now have a clean burning stove. Thanks so much Guys!

Being as I am having the clumping your having, makes me wonder if I need a new combustion blower. What were the symptoms? IS there a way I can tell if mines working properly?

My blower had a growl to it that I could hear while it was running. Their are other things that should be checked and tried before you replace the blower. Give them a call, they are very nice people and will fix you right up.

I still get an incomplete burn of pellets building up, I have tried every setting to mankind on the control board and nothing helps, I think it is a factory defect on the '06 PDV's and I think that englander should honor that with some type of fix. It almost seems like there should be more air blowing from the bottom of the burn pot not the top/sides. It's not the type of pellets, I have burned 4 different brands this past winter and nothing makes a difference. Any ideas???

What did they say when you talked to them?

for the record , there is no difference in the englander 25-pdv from mid 2004 through the present in as far as the way air passes through the unit. also for the record , less than 1/2 of 1 percent of the 25-pdv units produced during 2006 had a reported air deficiency problem. you really need to talk to my techs if you havent already. if you have i'd be interested in what the corrective action they prescribed to you was along with a description of the setup of the unit and flue system.

I dont beleave this but I had to use my stove because it is cold here in upstate ny and I now have clumping again. I am at a loss here at this point, is there something wrong with these stoves?

I still think something might be up with your burnpot. Here is a pic of mine manufactured in 10/06. Jusy my $.02

can you describe this more?, my 25-pdv seems to burn into ash just fine (no pellets burned half way), however at the end when shut off for cleaning the burn pot has this forming of ash into what I would define like frosting or like when you hold dry snow in your hands......sort of

is that what you're referring to?, not sure if this is normal or not and it might depend on the brand of pellets being used.....right now I'm testing the Turman hardwood premium.....burns good but leaves that formation in the burn pot.

My englander burnpot is different than your picture. My air holes are in a straight line going across .......here is a modified shot of your picture showing what I mean..........I get a aweful lot of clumping too with mine.........Must clean it out as it's ready to overflow the top of the pot twice a day. Got a little tech support from them & it's better, but still more than I think should be there.

I get a lot of ash in my burnpot in a 24 hour period and tried different brands of pellets without much difference between brands. Some just seem to leave more clinkers than others. The original poster of this thread, moto, has the larger burnpot hole on the topside of his pot. For some reason, that just doesn't seem right to me. Just my $.02.

ok, so can someone tell me, on a 2006 25pdv, what should all the settings be if I'm using an external thermostat.

The stove is in my basement and I ran the thermostat to my first floor.

What should the settings be for the bottom 3 buttons and the heat range to gain the maximum heat using a thermostat
Also, the plate inside the hopper, should that be open all the way or closed as far as it will go?

right now they are set to 3,4,1 with heat range on 8 and blower 9 and the plate is closed as far as it will go

I have a 2007 model. I was on the phone with Englander more than an operator. My stove still b urns like crap and I have tried everything. They finally got sick of me calling and said there was nothing wrong with it. Funny, my brother has the same stove but a 2005 and loves it. He cant see why mine is junk either.

Could you elaborate on burns like crap with some pics or description?

uses 40 lbs of bearfoot fuel in 12 hours. Lots of unburned pellets. Air intake is clear, all settings were changed like 5 times while on the phone with support. replaced the exhaust blower twice and it still squeals like a pig, lots of other issues

Definitely something wrong. With all of those issues I would lean towards a control board problem. On low a 40lb bag of Barefoots lasts about 24hrs in my stove.

There's really nothing to the stoves. I wonder if there's a missing weld on it, but you would think that would be easy to spot with smoke or ashes coming out of it.

Yes, please post some pics of the burnpot.

The holes in your burn pot don't look right. Those large side holes are located on the bottom portion of mine.

As Mike said, The Holes are correct...I have an '07 PDV...With the same hole arrangement...Mine burns fine..no clickers at all. I've never changed the factory settings either. Might be your fuel. I burn Agways brand..Don't know who makes them for them but have have excellent succes... Room fan and burn settings should always match...1 to 1...2 to 2 and so on...Hope this helps..Good Luck

The higher fan setting doesn't hurt anything, but the manual tells you to match them so people that aren't so bright don't turn the feed to 9 and leave the fan on 1. You can see how this could be a bad thing don't you ;-)

Could there be the chance that if you run your fan on 9 and your heat on say 3, you are actually cooling the heated air? Just a question as I'm trying to get the most heat out of every pellet burned.

Eric
