Anyone running a blower on an Avalon Olympic wood stove? If so, does it take a very long time to turn back off once the fire is gone?

Mine takes a good 12 hrs "after" the fire is done, and stove is cool to the touch.

Seems excessive to me. Almost like the snap disc is shutting off when the stove outside surfacce temp gets down to 70 Deg or so.

Any feedback?

Larry

If you're talking about a freestanding Olympic, then I burn your stove's sister...Lopi Liberty with factory blower kit. My blower shuts back off long before the stove is all the way back down to ~70. My stove will still feel warm to the touch well after the blower has gone dormant. Can't give you any specific temps to compare. Rick

Mine does the same. Takes a good while to turn off. I don't think it is 12 hours, but the top of the stove is definitely cool to the touch before it goes off.

Like Fossil said, it should be off long before your surface temp drops to or below 100 deg (waste of electricity). I used to run an "original" blower but built one myself last season which I run now, the old one got too noisy. The snap switch I used in mine I bought from a HVAC dealer, is adjustable and easy to wire, maybe you guys need to replace yours, do they wear out?

Thanks for the replies on this. Yes, mine is a free standing stove. Does seem like a waste of electricty. My unit is new (only about three fires since everything was installed in September. Not sure if the snap switches wear out or not or degrade. Simple enough device though.

I like the idea of the adjustable one though. Would you be willing to forward info on it?

Many thanks,

Larry
