hi all,
Ive just started using a Montgomery & ward co. model 721-4 woodstove, and I was wondering if anyone might have any info on it. I know that:
The stove was purchased before 1945, most likely during the 1930's
It is enameled, with a square outer shell surrounding an oval cast Iron firebox
It has a 6in oval flue discharge
It has 2 draft controls o the front and one at the base of the flue
I attached a few pictures so people could see what it looked like

Any info on this stove would be greatly appreciated

Neat old stove deco style stove. Can you open up the doors and post a shot of the insides? Maybe add a shot of the flue air control too.

Are there shaker grates in it or just a flat bottom ash grate?

The fire is going right now, and the shots of the insides wont come out good, but when it burns down ill post some inside pics. There originally was a grate in it but it was not in the stove and I couldnd get a suitable one. I dont think that it was a shaker grate but i cant be sure. there are 2 spots that look loike they could have had grates set on them, both are toward the bottom.

Nice. I was wondering if it was originally a wood/coal stove. You might try some of the antique stove dealers or the antiquestove forum:

It has always been a wood burning unit only. on the side, there is a metal tag that gives the following info: Montgomery & Ward co. Model 721-4. woodburning. Thanks for the link, im going to post on that site and ask.
