I get the Harbor Freight e-mail flyer, and in my latest one they had a mention of a 30ton splitter w/ Robin engine for 1299 - I was curious as I'd heard rumors that HF was replacing that model with one that has a different Chinese brand engine (an unknown quality copy of the Robin engine)
When I clicked on the link, I found that the splitter being advertised was the Horizontal only model w/ log lift, 4 way wedge, etc.. Think HF version of the Timberwolf style.... Normally HF has been selling that model for $1599, which wasn't a bad price for that style machine, it is now on sale for $1299 - this is the same that I paid for my recently acquired H/V 30 ton....
I'm not upset as I prefer an H/V style unit, which I will probably almost never use horizontally in any case, but for anyone looking for a Horizontal only, this looks like one heck of a good deal.
(My guess is they may be trying to clear those units out so they can replace them with a different engine version, like they did with the H/V model.)
NOTE - Sale flyer says it expires on Nov. 5th, 2008....
