hi new to this forum first year burning wood pellets have harman accentra free standing stove is 2003 model have problem with carbon building on sides of burn pot install is straight through wall other wise stoves works fine any help would be appreciated also has black tar like cresote on out side of burn pot and has lingering smoke in ash pan thank you gmtech

there is an upgrade for this stove available from your local dealer, harman calls it a reduction ring. It reduces the size of the exhaust outlet behind the ash pan. The effect is to increse air velocity through the stove. This will help with the creosote and carbon issues you have.

can i install this up grade my self i also stuffed rope gasket on top of guild plate it helped some but still have to much carbon build up

yes, it is pretty simple to install. One tek screw IIRC.

will this be covered under warranty. the stove was a floor model.the stove shop is going to replace combustion motor clean around burn pot and remove and check the draft will this help. thank you for your help

Are there any pictures of this installed and/or what it looks like? Website to get more info about it?
How much does it cost?
What kind of impact does it have on performance?
If air speed is increase doesnt it mean it will burn pellets quickler?
I am curious about this upgrade.

That is the part I was talking about. The new clean out will have a slightly smaller inlet (about 3/8 smaller diameter). This will increase air velocity and generally help with the creosote/carbon issue.

Yes it is covered under warranty, no there is no info on line that I am aware of. It does not make the stove burn pellets quicker, just more completely.

If it is under warranty can I request the dealer to come and install it at not cost?
If not how much does the part cost?

I am just trying to visualize this pice.
I sthis like a metal ring that will fit snuggly in the hole that goes out of the back of the stove after removing the ash pan the metal cover to uncover the fan and thats the hole just besides it?
Is this where it goes?

If it burns pellets more completly then its a good thing right?
I too have a problem with carbon buildup, I dont know if its a serious one, but I do have to scrape the pot regularly, which I dont like. :)
My concern is about efficiency and performance.
Does this ring increase heat output, uses less pellets or what?

At first they were making a ring to fit in the cleanout cover, now I think it is the whole cover. The new stoves are already upgraded, and I am not sure when the upgrade occurred.
Tell your dealer that you are having a creosote problem and that there is a fix for it. Harman's part number is 1-00-247234 and they call it an "inlet reduction ring"

it could only help efficiency, because you are reducing creosote which is a sign of incomplete combustion.

That's good info. I have a Harmane Insert that was bought in August, would that already have that part on it?

Justo got off the phone with my dealer and he is not aware of this part.
He thought I was talking about a ring that is used for Corn burning.
He isnt aware of the part number but he is going to check with Harman and f/u sometime next week.
Thanks for the info.

This is for the free standing Accentra not the insert

Parrot Head---thanks for the info, including the part#. Is this a permanent install or can it be removed if the results aren't desireable?

it can be removed
