Do they have the pellet Fuel institute stamp on them? In general, if their listed as premium, they shouldn't be too bad. Burn some and let us all know!

Well, then like I said, burn them for a while, and report back to the forum on your thoughts. From what i read about them, they should be good pellets.

Yes, I agree on the smell. I have a ton of Lignetics softwood in the basement, and it never smelled so good!


EDIT: Are you located anywhere near Westfield? There is a stove dealer on this site occasionally named slink, and he runs a stove shop. Last time I saw him on here, he had pellets, although they were expensive.

I just so happened to walk in the local Tractor Supply in Lockport, NY last night and picked up one ton of pellets making it my 5th ton for the year. They were also Country Pride. I have mixed them in with my Instant Heat and I must say I like the Country Pride pellets. They small great. The guy told me they were hardwood, but I doubted that since there are pine trees on the bag. They seem to give off good heat although my insert is on 3 and all seems well. I wish they had more because I would gladly get rid of the instantheat pellets I have they keep getting lodged in the auger. Let me know how they work for you.

I haven't tried that brand of pellets yet. We are out of pellets here as well. Have been for a month or two. Fortunately I was able to pick up 4 ton of Dry Creek pellets from Agway over the summer, and I hope that I can find a ton of something before the end of the season. I just bought this stove this year, not too familiar with what is good and bad for pellets. Not even sure how much I will need for the season. I have found that I can mix a not so good pellet with a better one. We were able to get a few bags of Canadian pellet which isn't that good, and I mix it with Dry Creek, so far seems to work. Anyone out there have any replies on Dry Creek pellets?

I had 5 bags of Canadian pellets that came with the stove. They burned well but had a lot of ash. Now, I'm burning Lignetics which seem to burn hotter and have a lot less ash. I know people who use dry creek and they love them. I couldn't find any when I was looking for pellets and bought the lignetics (the only pellets I could find at the time) which turned out to be a good thing. I've heard rumors though that New York State is not going to allow pellets sold in the state that were not manufactured in the state. Anyone else hear this?

No, I haven't heard that. But I have heard that locally here in the lower Adirondacks a pellet factory is going in. I was told that they are not going to sell these pellets here in NYS but are going to supply to other states. Doesn't make sense, like everything else.

Yeah, I've burned Lignetics, NEWP, and a few bags of Freedom Fuel and so far the Lignetics are hands down THE BEST!

You have 6 tons of pellets???? Sounds like another candidate for membership into the Pellet Pig Club! OINK OINK :lol:
