I just installed a Quad 1200i insert. I didn't notice it in the store but when installed in my house, the air passing over the burn pot in combination with the exhaust motor running is very loud. I almost hate turning it on because of the noise, even on low. On high it sounds like a jet engine. I definitely have to turn the TV up louder but it is still hard to mask the noise. My neighbor who has a Quad came over and said it sounded normal to him. Is it this stove or are all pellet stoves this loud? Can anything be done to make it quieter?

Now that you are aware and familiar with the sound, why not go back to the dealer showroom and listen to theirs again.....maybe the sound was there, but you just didn't notice.

I agree with Macman
there are only maybe two models of stoves that are quiet, the Quadrafire Mt Vernon AE and the Austroflamm.

The Enviro Empress is very quiet, the auger is shock mounted as and the blowers
are also reduced noise level.
There is some noise as the pellets drop and the auger turns but that just takes getting used t,
I have not lost a nights sleep which I did when the oil man showed up at my door

We sit about 15-18 feet from the stove and the sound is not loud. Maybe an insert radiates the sound, never heard an insert run.
