I bought a moist air humidifier at home depot and its a piece of junk. If you have the humidity set at 65% it gets to like 27. I can't run it on med speed otherwise you can't hear yourself think. It's so noisy.
Any suggetions on a good humidifier?

Its a moist air from Home Depot. I think when I bought it it said it would do up to 2.000 sq. ft and my house is 1700. I just turned it down to 40. Do you run yours on low, med or high?

The Emerson Essick MoistAir MA1201 can output 12 gallons every 24 hours and humidify up to 2,500 square feet. It features electronic monitoring and measurement, digital display of target and actual humidity readouts, three speed fan, and automatic dry out mode. Treated filter is mold and mildew resistant. 3.9 gallon base and bottle capacity.

Length: 14.5" Width: 21.5" Height: 20.5"

This is the model I have.

It's in the other room but my layout of my house is it's all open. If I put it in a bedroom you won't be able to sleep. It's been on low and my nose and throat are so dry. I wonder if I should put a small humidifier in my bedroom?

Well here's the deal. I run it and for some reason I find it off. I think my daughter shuts it off you know a 15 year old everything annoys them. I can't say how long it runs non-stop to be honest.

You can be sure that any square foot rating for a humidifier is based upon it running on high. I have a Holmes Large Room humidifier that is advertised as capable of going 2 days without fill-up, but running it constantly requires a fill-up every 16 - 18 hours. Mine too is noisy on anything above low speed.

No, it is not noisy for the amount of humidity it puts into the air. But that is not to say it is inaudible. Any time you need to move a lot of air and don't have a very large diameter fan there will be some noise.

I use two of the Ventas. The downstairs one we leave on the kitchen counter for easier filling. It runs on high speed most of the time and will put 6 or 7 gallons of moisture a day into the air. But at that speed it would be a distraction in a quiet room. We occasionally run it at the medium speed just to diminish the noise.

The other is in our bedroom. We leave it at the lowest setting and it is very quiet (we use it 24/7 and it is not a problem with sleep). But at that speed we are only filling a couple of gallons a day....

Slickplant, where did you go????? Come back 'lil slickplant...we want to help you :)

Hi, I have never heard of anyone getting bloody noses from low humidity. Are you hydrating yourself? Drink plenty of water and take 2 tylenol PM before bed, I bet it will help.

I have the Emmerson MoistAir MA0800 humidifier. I also had some issues with the humidistat initially. I've found that it's really sensitive to positioning. The humidifier should be pulled out from the wall a few inches and the humidistat on the cord should not be pushed up against the unit. Since I pulled it out from the wall, the humistat seems to be working properly.

I have the MA1201. I called the company and they told me if I don't have the box toooo bad on me. I guess I will have to save up and buy another one.
