Feeling the Heat
Nov 18, 2005

Flint Hills of Kansas
finally pulled the trigger on a new insert in september.
my criteria was to be under $2000 with a larger than 3 cubic ft firebox.

ended up with the osburn 2400 for $1760 from dynamitebuys.com, black door and a 3.2 cu. ft. box.

from what little i've burned so far, i love this unit! it really puts out the heat.

the only thing i wish it had is a thermostaticly controlled blower. you have to
manually turn the blower on as it gets up to temp.

the only other whine is the owners manual. it seems a little difficult to understand
in regards to clearances and assembly.

i'll post pics later.

BrotherBart always posts a gadget that magnetizes to the insert and has a snap disk to turn the blower on and off with the temp. The 2400 is a nice unit!

Hmmm....I hear that there are other forum members that use that gadget as well. Now if I could just remember who......... %-P

Told you, he lurks here a lot :)

thanks guys!!!!

bb, i believe i'll order one of those gizmos....i suppose you're getting a cut

I wish. I bought my first one at the local stove shop when I bought my old stove in 1985. It finally crapped out in 2003 from me running that stove way hot and having the Stove-Stat on an unlined wall of the firebox. The fellow that sold me the stove passed away six years ago. I went to the shop and told his son that I had a warranty claim. I told him that I thought the stat should have lasted longer than 18 years. I cracked up when the son replied "All warranties for things purchased from dead people are null and void.".

I went over and got a new one off the shelf and headed to the cashier still laughing.

I've been using a Stove Stat on my Osburn 1600i for the last couple years. It works great!

BB, I'm looking at hooking one of these to my Osburn insert (actually, I'm dropping a lot of hints that this would make a great Christmas present). Do you have any pictures how yours is attached?

It has a strong magnet made on it. Ya just hold it to the stove and it grabs hold of the steel.
