OK

My son is looking to buy a pellet stove and is asking me which one.

I have a Castile from Quadrafire and rate it a 9 out of ten. The only thing that could be better is an automatic pot dump.

Love my P38, a P61 or 68 woulda been better ( I could use a bigger BTU stove, anyone looking to downsize?)

I also have an Osburn 45mf. It is an excellant heater, it was very easy to install and get running (almost plug and go) and is very simple to operate. However, I think it is quite noisy, especially since I have it in my livingroom where the TV is. It also dirties the glass very quickly - within a half of a bag of pellets. I am also disappointed in my dealer or Osburn because I orderd the gold trim kits when I bought the stove in July and still haven't recieved them.

Most of the Osburn 45 owners on this site have complained about the glass and here is my theory. If you look at the size of the glass door compaired to other stoves it is huge. If we were just dealing with part of the flat front like many models have, check yours.... there is little soot on the front. Most collects on the side windows quite far away from the front glass. So I am not sure it collects more soot or it just has too much glass. Design flaw and has nothing to do with the stove burn.
Seems to build up much more on the right side panel (when facing the stove).
Noise is loud but not as loud as an air conditioner in the summer.

Dude i am sooooooooooooooooo telling.... :)

hey , thats why i pulled the woodstove and went to pellet , wife couldnt build a fire in a woodstove with a gallon of napalm and a gun to her head and i travel a lot now so i needed somthing she could handle, she wasnt real hapy with it as she was used to the woodstove and me running it , so when i hooked it up she was still casting a gimlet eye towards the new pellet puppy. til i pushed the on button and the thing lit itself, the hook was set deep at that moment.
