I'll start:


Finding the wood you scrounged can be split incredibly easily. A hatchet splits the wood! After struggling with elm and cottonwood, I found logs so amazing they splits the first hit, every time. Yowza!
 
Knowing that this winter my family will be warm, truly warm, for the first time in the five years that we've been together.
 
A wife, a daughter, a dog, and me with a cold beer, lounging by the (downstairs) woodstove while the TV (upstairs) is off.

That about sums it up for me, minus the daughter, but nothing beats being with the wife, my dog, and a nice cold coors!

yep ,i agree also ill add its awesome to be at 80 degrees of guilt free radiant warmth in the house while its only 20 outside with whipping wind flurries
 
...is when my 5 year old twin girls wake up in the morning they hop in my lap and give me a big hug while I'm having my first cup of coffee.
 
Walking our new dog on a cold Minnesota evening and smelling all the differnt flavors of wood being burnt. I had no idea so many people had wood stoves right in my area.

We have more in common than we have differnces.
 
Watching the Propane truck drive on by us as he goes down our road.........lol
 
. . . working all day outside in the cold, rain/snow of late Fall/early Winter as you cut up next year's firewood and then coming home, sitting down in your easy chair in front of a roaring fire and nodding off to sleep.
