My mistake, I believe you are correct. I looked back and see that Iceman mentioned Rick (Steve's partner earlier this year) was the excop, not the current NEP owner Steve Z.

According to an unamed but reliable source, NEP is meeting with CT AG's office today.

i called them because my dad ordered from them for years . they use to be in suffield . he got his pellets in april (warm front brand). i brought them in his cellar . so i ordered mine about two weeks later the first week of may . they told me in july i would get them .then in sept. then oct 1
then first week of nov .i though they were going to rip me off . to make a long story short i new someone that knows them . he talked to them i got my pellets thank god . i know many people that still did not get there pellets .also hes not a cop i pretty sure he is a ceo for a prison . oh i mean an ex ceo.also they are not selling to the public anymore the driver told me to many people too fast .thats to bad my pops loved this company . they never did him wrong . it seems they got greedy. selling pellets for more money to new customers before delivering the pellets to the people that already paid for them . then getting mad at the customer(me for calling ). unfortunatly this co will not suffer. too many small dealers are seeking pellets to jack up the price to sell to you. i think cjs pellets in manchester next year for me .

I got a call from their office this morning, they left me a message to tell me that they received all of my messages, however no mention of a delivery date or any information of any kind. They can take the pellets and choke on tham at this point. It will be cheaper to heat with oil at 2.37 a gallon . I am calling the oil man! at least he will deliver.

I just received a call from the AG office in CT. It appears the AG's office is now contacting people who sent in letters complaining about NEP and confirming who has, and has not, received pellets or a refund.

If you have an outstanding order with NEP, CONTACT THE AG ASAP

We have been calling NEP for a few weeks. On the 13th they said 10 days to process the refund. Talked to the book keeper this morning. It still has not been processed. My wife did just call the AG office. They cannot do anything for you unless you send it to them in writing. So you need to contact them in writing!

Had trouble with them last year, would never do business with Steve again. Rick was great to deal with.

The weekend paper had an article on heating with alternative fuels and NEP was mentioned as not delivering or returning customer phone calls and noted that they were meeting with the AG's office. Unfortunately, the noise has died down and it looks like the bad guy won anyway. Anyone who got a partial delivery had to pay the whole delivery cost - no refund on that so they paid a 3 ton delivery charge to get 1 ton of pellets. The others who didn't get any pellets are getting refunds of $ that are far less than the cost of getting replacement pellets - fortunately oil has dropped significantly but if you're a propane or electric heat user that doesn't help you a bit - you're stuck trying to buy pellets at $350 a ton vs. the $200ish you had paid 6 months ago. Those folks lost the ability to buy pellets at 225 or 250, 275 or even 300....that means someone may have to pay an additional $400 for 3 tons of pellets because Steve & co. hosed them. A real settlement or guarantee would require Steve to produce the pellets at the agreed upon price or refund their replacement value. Insurance companies do that all the time - don't see why the AG can't require the same of NEP except that it's too much work and he'd rather move on to his next little on-camera opportunity and call this one a "win".

I'm glad I really turned up the heat on this guy while still had the chance, I thought for sure he was going to disappear once things started getting really ugly (and I knew that was coming from all directions). Being an LLC, there's not all that much we could have done if he just walked away. So if everyone either gets their pellets or at the minimum, their money back, I would also call this a "win" given what could have happened.

With that said, I completely agree with you Jim. And if not refunding the "replacement value", he should be paying earned interest on this money which has been tied up for the last 6 months... There's no reason this POS should get to keep the earned interest on your money.

I'm still in stunned disbelief that I got my pellets and I just keep saying, "live and learn, never buying again from these guys!" what a fiasco none of us need!!

Good new's for people who heat with oil, I just got a delivery 200.00 gallons from Price Energy in central Connecticut today for 2.15 a gallon using price code 10026. You would have to buy pellets below 253.00 per ton to beat that price. New England Pellet can kiss my X#&$.

I have propane. My locked-in rate for that is $3.01/gallon (I think). I don't think propane prices are going as low as oil. I'm thinking of shopping around to see if I can get my tanks filled for less than the locked in rate...I didn't sign a contract or anything with Amerigas so I can go elsewhere..but I don't even know if I'd save.

I have my pellets, but have to keep my propane tanks filled for hot water and backup heat. I don't run the pellet stove at night, I keep the heat on low.

Slightly off topic, but I have oil fired hot water heat. Last night there was no hot water. I checked it by turning up the thermostat (been using the pellet stove so the oil heating part hasn't come on yet) and the baseboard radiators started to get warm but not hot. My wife pointed out they didn't smell hot like the first use of the season when they burn off the dust. She also pointed out that it was not an aphrodisiac to suggest that her housekeeping habits might have led to too much dust on the fins of the radiators to provide proper heat ;-) and suggested I keep looking for the problem.

After checking the piping temps I noticed they started out hot near the furnace but weren't much above room temp on the way back into the boiler. The circulator pump was making its humming noise but the pipes coming from the water heater (one of those external Amtrol ones) back into the boiler weren't warming up either. I noticed the pump was very hot to the touch and then the relief valve started spitting. Circulator pump failure no doubt. (It's a replaceable cartridge type so it's a 15 minute job to fix...they've done it before.)

Called the oil company this morning...still waiting for the "no heat or hot water" service call 6 hours later --- latest is "sometime this afternoon". Good thing the pellet stove is still working & it's 70 in here or I'd be really peeved vs. slightly annoyed.

Now just need to find a hot water alternative so I have backup for that too

I've got solar but that's not cutting it right now (raining & dark) to get the temps up to where it's hot. Electric is 18.5 cents a KWH here & rising - not a pretty way to do hot water, and the recovery time is longer than oil. Looked at the instant hot water heaters you install near the point of use so I'm not spending a bunch to heat water to store in a tank but I'd need a bunch of them for both bathrooms (baths & sinks), washer, and kitchen.

Anyone make a tankless electric that's good for multiple outlets so I could put one in each bath supply line to do both sink & shower and another for the kitchen/washer line?

Yup, I picked up a 3 y/o 50 gal electric hot water heater for $25 on CL, it's in great shape. It took me about two hours and $50 in parts to install. I bought it this summer knowing my indirect fired hot water was going to be offline for a month or two while I converted over from oil to NG. My plan was to resell it now that the conversion is complete, but I think I'm going to hang onto it as it's nice to not only have options, but also a backup system. If I need to use it all I have to do is turn it on and throw two valves.

If you're interested, they pop up on CL all the time, just watch the age. Few sell so you can really work your own deal/price on them.
