Wow. That is unfortunate. I was hoping it did not include pellet stoves.

I hope that legislation never arrives up here. Many people use wood for heat and have no other option.

What a travesty.
And with a new administration coming in...I'm afraid we're going to see more of that. And it's so unnecessary.

File it under the banner of Air Pollution and C02 fanaticism.
And then see what happens as soon as C02 is declared a "pollutant" in Feb/Mar...and we all have to purchase carbon credits for our pellet and wood stoves.

AND they dont want you burning a pellet stove, so switch back to your oil furnace which pollutes how much more?

Agree about the "live in Mass" comment, but it's coming here too. Mass signed onto the Northeast Carbon Trading pact a few months ago, and you know those folks inside Rt 128 just can't wait to have some control over how the rest of us live our lives.

As you said, tough to tell if you're burning pellets...but I haven't been outside enough with the stove running to know if you can smell it or not.

Id want to read the statue on it. What are the fines, are you obligated to let them in and chack, or do they have to get a warrant?

Don't know, but I would guess that towns will see it as a source of revenue. They'll go through records, and everyone that has an inspection permit for a stove/fireplace/pellet appliance will get tagged automatically to buy "offset credits". The town will get a fee for administration, there'll be a new office created for compliance...

From what I understand burning wood, Especially in a pellet stove is Carbon neutral , no Carbon credits needed, but give it time the Eco-Nazi loons will come up with some new excuse to liberate your $$$ from your pocket, Its just a matter of time.

Don't judge us all by LA or the Bay Area. There are actually some normal people here, but we are outnumbered.

I left LA 23 years ago because I could see where it was headed.

The Bay Area is so bizarre it should be on another planet.

But it's all relative. The cities are spreading, and the inhabitants are seeking the more rural areas as they get priced out of home ownership. One couple from LA-LA Land bought a home near here a few miles down a remote road. They successfully convinced the county to install a street lamp across from their driveway because "it gets so dark" at night.
