If I remember correctly the front flap is the start-up and the read flap is the burn rate. I have seen a couple units where the slider rod dislodged binding up the whole system.

Since I last posted, my timer doesn't seem to be working at all now - I don't hear any tick-tick-tick. It's supposed to be mild here for the next few days, so I think I'll try to take a look back there and poke around a bit.

Three years ago I got a 3100 quad and I did the white out thing to,that just to funny that people from the east coast would copy the people(ME) from the west coast lol. It was in year two that i would open up the drafts and let the bed of coals burn down for about one hour before i load it for the nite burn. I just think that its funny the way GREAT mines work lol.
 
I wouldn't call it a great mind here on the east coast. :roll: I just was looking for a quick solution to getting the stove back to a steady burn. Something about necessity being the mother of invention. Maybe we can patent it and sell it back to Quad!

Any luck, Seth? If anything is broken, it should be covered by the warranty.

So I didn't end up opening the timer section up. I was playing around with it and it seemed that when I was pushing the air control all the way back and then forward, it wasn't going quite all the way back. If I went to the back of the stove and manually pushed the back lever just a bit further, it seemed to engage the timer everytime. Now clearly this is not working as intended but if that is the extent of the issue then I'm not too concerned about it at this point.

Where can I order a replacement label for my start-up air control for my Quadra-Fire 4300 Millennium, ACC? No one seems to know how it got skinned up. Amazing, huh?
 
Did you try your Quad dealer? That's the only place you will be able to get one, if at all.

Sorry, you do not have a timer system at all. My previous comment was geared at GunSeth.

offroadaudio, you should have two "shotgun" holes in the back. This is where the start-up air comes in. Check with a light and make sure they are not full of ash. Also when you push the lever in you should be able to see the flap door move back. I can normally see a huge difference with the fire going well, and then shutting the start-up air. Try with a decent fire going, open the start-up air and then shut the burn rate down all the way. Then close the start-up air after the flames stabilize. You should instantly see a change in the flames.

Thanks for this info - I just checked with a flashlight (first time my stove has been cool in a month) I vac'd out the shot gun holes and saw the flaps. The flaps are about 2 - 3" into the holes and are closed - pushing and pulling the start up air lever does nothing to change them - it's broken.
I'm actually glad about this - it confirms my thought, and is probably an easy fix once the insert is out of the fireplace - not going to happen until spring.

Hmmm I have had many people "think" the startup air was broken, but never seen one actually break. Its a pretty simple mechanism. Only thing I can think of is if one of the welds at the rear broke in half.

Maybe we bumped it during install?
 
I have a Quadra-Fire 4300 Millenium I got in 02 and like the no frills stuff. When the electricity goes off I will always be warm.
Now if I could only figure out how to unlock my gas cook stove when the power goes out.
